New management is a mixed deal. The main manager is vicious, but the other staff are nice. The main manager will toss your packages if they're in the office over a week. She's also rude and disrespectful without hesitation even if one pays rent on time and is a clean tenant. She seems to relish making life difficult for tenants as opposed to being responsive to any special requests.

On the plus side, the building is bug-less, and that's a rare thing in this price range.

The building is old (1974) and the appliances in the kitchen are almost as old. Given that one could pay a monthly mortgage on a condo with an updated kitchen for about the same price as monthly rent here, it's a bit silly.

Soundproofing is abominable - I have a neighbor with an anger management problem who complains anytime my television is on, no matter how low the volume. I have to live ike a churchmouse to avoid him banging on the walls like a lunatic. Management won't deal with it, either.

The juvenile detention center next door isn't really a problem. If anything it probably offers some additional security. I've never had any problems with anyone on the streets, but yes some folks hang out on their porches in the summer evenings. No big thing.

I have not had a chance to interact with any of the managers. As far as bugs, I am surpsied, our apartment we do see bugs eventhough we keep it clean. I think that is beacuse our unit is near the trash bins. I cant wait to move out. Also windows in our unit are not very good so it gets very cold during winter. I hope they have changed the windows in the new unit. As far as saftey, I agree over all we have not had any problem. I still think that for the new price of rent, the place does not offer much.

Wow, sorry about the bugs. I would have been out of here long ago if I'd known. You're absolutely right about the windows - and then management keeps the heat in the halls cranked up like crazy. I was traveling for work for several months last year, and still had to pay nearly $100/mo in elec/HVAC costs, even though I wasn't using any! I'm also looking to get out of here, so best of luck to you!
