Glebe House Apartments

A knockout! From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 10/19/2007 Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2007   Glebe House is a gem! The price is affordable, all utilities, cable, HBO, and even a trial membership (3 month) to the local YMCA included. There are a couple of computers in the laundry/commons room with free internet - Free wi-fi if you can catch a signal from the router as well. The neighborhood is nice, Del Ray has plenty of little mom and pop shops, as well as upscale boutiques and such. The immediate surroundings (Nearest houses/tenement buildings) are primarily Spanish speaking, and there are some great Taquerias and chicken shacks less than a block away. Also, French and Cajun if you're willing to walk a full block. I can't speak for all the apartments, but mine has been renovated this year - the kitchen sink even had the stickers still on it. I've had a few maintenance problems, but they're taken care of - correctly - within 24 hours. (I haven't had an emergency, so they'll probably take care of things quicker in that case.) Parking can be cramped in the evening, but there is plenty of street parking, I've never spent more than a minute or two looking for a spot. I've seen one roach, but I'm pretty sure it climbed out of a grocery bag. They spray pretty regularly. Noise/Smells tend to drift into the hallway, but rarely make it into the units. I hear my neighbor cough occasionally, and pots and pans get beat around. It doesn't disturb me, and I'm a quiet guy. Two grocery stores, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, Target, a movie theater, plenty of restaurants & bars, and even a concert venue are all within a 15 minute walk. You're better off taking a bus to the metro, however. There's a park and a school with plenty of field space for pick up sports and three playgrounds for kids. This is the best studio I have ever seen.
