I first moved in when the bldg opened. It was great. Since then, the quality of 'residents' has seemed to diminish. Lately, all I have been seeing touring the bldg are people I pay this much money to keep away from. It's like public housing has moved into the bldg (you can tell by the crappy cars in the garage and their attitudes when you see people).

They charge you for everything - parking ($50/mo per car), storage ($50/per unit), etc. The 15th floor lounge is nice - except when the same people are hanging up there all the time, some speaking loudly on their cell phones. Very rude. The space is for everyone - I think the same 5 people think it's their own space.

There's been alot of turnover in the leasing staff......that's not a good sign.

And the walls are somewhat thin.

On a positive note, the apts are nice. Lots of nice upgrades (granite, slate, etc). The bldg is relatively quiet - I expect it to get worse as the new people start to move in. At this rate, seeign what's moving in lately, I will not be sticking around past year 1.

don't know what you mean by "public housing has moved in" and "crappy cars" and "attitudes" and "thin walls".....I haven't encountered any of that and I've been at Halstead since May.....are you a resident??

I have to agree with ireturned, I have no idea what your talking about with your nasty comments regarding "public housing", "crappy cars" and "attitudes". Seems like the only one who has an attitude is YOU! BTW, what kind of car do you drive, is it "crappy"? And, are you really a resident? I have lived at Halstead since early August and I have had a wonderful experience here, too bad yours has not been the same, perhaps it due to your "ATTITUDE".

Re: the response from 9/24 - you know, people have the right to their opinions. You can politefully disagree with someone. But your response fuels the fire of the original post and proves that there is at least one not-so-nice person in the building. Name calling is not nice. And by the tone of your post, you are the one who seems to have an attitude. BTW, has anyone noticed the coffee cup, juice box, napkins, chicken bones thrown on the floor in the garage? Chicken bones were in visitor parking - the rest on G2.

Anoymous from 10/7/07~~~~No one called you a name; your ATTITUDE was questioned. Your comments regarding public housing sound border line racist, and you comment about "crappy cars" was way out of line; I only see Audi's, SUV's BMW's and Mercedes' in the parking garage; I feel kind funny with my little reliable Honda. Just my opioion, which I am entitled to. Frankly, you are the only one who is not-so-nice; all you do is complain. I have lived here for quite some time now, and have not encounted any of the issues that you are having, too bad your experience has not been a good one, perhaps you are trying too hard to have a bad experience becasue you don't want to have a good one because you have a bad ATTITUDE. Just a thought.

Wow, I was thinking about renting at Halstead Tower. After hearing how you two argue, I won't be making the decision to rent. THANKS!

I don't know how anyone can claim to have "lived here for quiet some time now" as construction on the building was not completed until early this year and the building is not even half occupied yet. I agree that there are some undesirables here already. I ran into one today as some kid in a black suv decided to just stop in the middle of the road in front of the building and block the road. I have also seen trash in the garage, up inthe lounge, in the stairways, and the trash cans in the elevator lobbies are often overflowing. I've lived here 5 months and they have had problems with hot water three times already. Twice we have had the hot water fail altogether. It took 3-4 days to repair each time. It started with the water temp being low and then failing. Again the water temperature is low when you open the faucet all the way to hot and it takes at least 10-15 minutes before it warms up. The management will respond but only by trying to convince you that the lower water temp is acceptable. I think they should live here, pay the high rent, and deal with a luke warm shower day after day. As for the comment on the thin walls, I've experienced worse, but I agree that they are on the thin side.

I must live in the best apartment in the building with the best neighbors because, I have not had hot water problems, and my neighbors are great; I don't see any undesirables; whatever that means. Hey, could the kid in the suv be from the office building next door to the building? People speed out of there like they are on their way to fire. I really like it here. Wish you did too. Sorry. :( Happy New Year!

Whoa guys! I must admit I've had to submit repeated service calls for my hot water not being hot enough. But as far as the conversation of the undesirables - it sounds to me that there are a few persons living at Halstead that think far too highly of themselves based on their income. Now wether you realize it or not your value or status in life, regardless of what you may think, is NOT directly related to what you do or your income - but rather how you treat (uplift) your fellow man and the legacy you leave for others to follow/admire on this Earth. Now i am a 10yr military veteran and have worked very hard to get to where i am, and applaud those who have managed their funds, or leveraged their education assets to be able to afford to reside at Halstead. ( In short) If you think your income makes you great, then accept the fact that they are just as great ( and maybe greater $$$) than you. On a more "undesirable" note let me catch one of you yahoos in the elvator looking cross-ways at one of your neighbors or their guest and i'll make sure you understand what community is really all about. Oh and i didn't see anywhere in the leasing rules that you were only allowed to live at Halstead if your car was worth over $60K - personally if you have a car like that and are living in an apartment you're not leveraging your finances in the right direction - you should be in a house where you can be all stuck up with your HOA.
