recurring hot water problems, priced as a luxury apartment but not worth it

First, the building has recurring hot water problems. Management responds by trying to convince you that a low water temperature is acceptable. Meanwhile this is the third time in less than 6 months that I can't take a hot shower (its only luke warm). Twice the hot water failed altogether. Myself and a few others complained about a low water temperature a day earlier but management did nothing until it failed completely. Each time it took 3-4 days before hot water service was restored.
Management advertises a great deck on the 15th floor with a pool, hot tub, and fire pit. What they don't tell you is that access is denied for most of the year. They only have a life guard for very limited hours during the summer and when there is no lifeguard there is no access to the balcony, thus no access to the hot tub or fire pit. The management has also restricted access to the golf simulator they advertise. You can only use it during certain times of the day. They claim this is because of noise complaints from the 14th floor residents. Its obvious that the building was not constructed as well as claimed. While on the topic of noise, I can hear my neighbors through the return air vents in my apartment and can easily hear them in the hallway.

There has been turnover in the management and concierge staff. Thats never a good sign. The management has also taken to sending out silly letters threatening to reduce or eliminate access to the building amenities because one or two bad apples do not have any respect for others and either make a mess in public spaces and/or make it unpleasant for others. Its a shame seeing as the building is not even half full yet. We have also receoved letters requiring parking passes for guests and even for residents. I have an assigned parking spot, they know what kind of car I have and my license plate, so why do need to put a sticker in my window too' The guest parking has never been more than 1/3 full and you cannot get into the garage without someone opening the door for you, so why require a parking permit'

I was excited when I first moved here. But after four months Halstead Towers has shown to be much more hype than substance. Unless you can negotiate two or three hundred off the current rent I say save your money.

Agree with you on everything you stated. The water situation is annoying. There was a review about the water, but it has disappeared from this site. Also, I can hear my upstairs neighbor clearly through the vent. The thing that gets me now is the coffee machine. There's coffee on the walls, floors, desks, etc. Coffee cups being left in the garage (on the ground). Visitor parking was a problem that has since been fixed. People were abusing it tremendously. I probbaly will not renew my lease....

what water problem? what noise through vents? I've been at Halstead since May and have not encountered any of these problems.....have you made management aware of your situation? I had some noise issues when I first moved in, and management/maintenance staff worked relentlessly to find the cause of the noise and to remedy the problem..... but let's face it, we are living in a multi-family environment and problems will emerge - but that's what management & staff are there to do...fix things. hope you can resolve your issues; Halstead is really a nice place.....have you seen any others around?

ireturned, How is it that you can say you have not experienced any water problems when the hot water has failed COMPETELY three times in the last four months? Other residents have complained about this. The conceirges have talked about this and management even posted a letter in the elevators the first time this happened stating that the problem would not be fixed for several days.

I have lived here for since October and like ireturned, I too have not experienced any hot water issues; although I have heard from some of my neighbors that some have and some have not. Perhaps I am one of the lucky ones; all I can say is I have not had any problems. As for noise, I hear some here and there but nothing that keeps me awake or nothing that is disturbing. As for the coffee machine; I have witnessed some inconsiderate people spill and or drop his/her coffe and just leave it with no regard to the mess made. This is simple bad manners on the part of those who do this. This goes to show it does not matter what your education level is or how much money you make; you either have manners, and consideration for others or you don't. Not something you can learn or buy.
