1/3/2008--OK, it seems Halstead management was entirely blameless for the loss of power, and the jury's still out on what had caused the water problems. I was quite pleased when I returned home from work yesterday evening and found everything at home to be just fine. Since I have no other grievances, I'm willing to give the management the benefit of the doubt and chalk this all up to bad luck. Such incidents, perhaps, may be attributed to the "growing pains" of a new building. As long as they don't recur anytime soon, I'm willing to give Halstead Tower a favorable review. I've been enjoying my apartment in every respect other than those previously noted. The ambience must otherwise be pretty great if such strong reactions are elicited when it's disrupted. If legitimate resident complaints continue to be addressed, and dialogue continues to occur, I'll have no problem renewing my lease and staying on here. It does feel like "home."

I wish I had the same option to go to a friends house that is local. This is very frustrating for a "luxury" residence. I won't be renewing my lease either. I'm sorry I signed a lease here, I haven't experienced luxury living here yet.

Believe me, I understand your frustration. I feel I've been "ripped off," paying a "luxury" rate for abominable service. It certainly does get tiring having to always have one's guard up and never being able to trust anyone where money is involved. Next time, when I move out of here, my only concern will be to look after my own interests. No one else will. Disheartening, yes, when all one is seeking is a place to be happy in, but I guess there's no denying the power of greed. Never has been...

Wow, I can only say that I have not had any problems with the hot water in the building, and I have lived here since October, and I really like it here. The building is nice, it's in a good location and I find most of my neighbors to be gracious and polite, and everyone from the people at the front desk to the guy who picks up all of the trash some of you throw around has been nice. Hope things get better for those who are having "hot water" problems.

I had a problem with the hot water once, I reported right way, and it was taken care of within minutes of being reported; the office and maintenance were very responsive and expressed sincere regret that I had been inconvenienced. I even received an email and phone call days after the problem had been fixed to find out if my hot water was still okay for me. I was very impressed with this concern shown to me, and appreciated and still appreciate it.
I just retruned from being out of town for holiday, and after being on a long flight in coach, the only thing I wanted to do when I got home was take a long hot shower; and I did. Not sure what happened since I left for holiday on Dec 21, but I have hot water and it has not been a reaccuring problem for me.

I have had zero problems with the hot water, and I like my showers to be really hot, and I don't have water preasure issues. Have you asked manamgent to change out your shower head? A new shower head might offer better preasure for you.

The power outage was due to a transformer in the area. It had nothing to due the with building. I was downstairs in the lobby when the lady and the front desk and someone from Dominion power informed several people of this.

1/2/08 - Does anyone know of any other buildings that lost power? Nothing immediately around us did. 12/31/07 - I wrote a post in November about the hot water - it disappeared from this site. This hot water situation is absolutely ridiculous. Not so much of an apology or anything. When I tried to call and report this, the phone kept ringing and ringing, eventually going into voicemail!?! When I first moved in, the water was lukewarm at best. It's only been recently that I've even had really hot water (that is, when it works). And I have been here since the summer....and from what I hear, my rent is way more than people moving in now (for example, I was not offered a free parking space as an incentive for moving in). My lease is almost up, and I am not renewing. There are plenty of other new apts to live in for the same price within walking distance to the Metro.
