Ok so I have decided to move into the Halstead I am supposed to sign the lease next week. I just saw this website and called the management to tell them what is up with them and all these problems, why have they not addressed the tenants'' So I spoke to them and they said they paid 12,000 to fix the garage door and it has never been broken for more then a month she said that was crazy, she also told me that the hot water issue was only a problem last year and that they paid another 24,000 to get a new water pump. Luckily I have the option to pull out of my lease if i dont like it after a month... I told the lady that she needs to schedule a tenant meeting with the whole building so they can talk about resolving the issues that are happening. For the people who are writing negative comments the things you are saying are WORKING I am not contemplating if i should keep the lease or not. I am a very open minded person who takes risks i think there is a solution to every problem. The people who are so angry at this place why dont you speak up or even protest if its such a huge problem. I understand when your stuck in a lease your pretty much f***ed until its over but i think the building is beautiful the area is nice so if its possible to make a change in it why dont you fight for it and pursue it the right way instead of being so negative' Honestly what is your main concern about this place and how have you approached the management obviously if they havent done anything in some ways the TENANTS are kind of in control imagine if 100 people tried to break there lease or if 100 people just kept persisting on what they wanted if you want something done you have to do it the right way you cant ----- and nag and write complaints, the only thing you will get out of that is helping other people not make the same mistake you did but how does that benefit yourself in the end''

Well to be honest, I get the feeling most people enjoy living at the Halstead. Every place has its issues and its fairly likely that only those with really bad experiences (or perhaps really good experiences) would write reviews for the apartment they live in. I spent 14 months at the Halstead and only moved about two months ago and I thought it was a great place. I did park my car in the parking garage and the fact that the door stopped working periodically was an issue, but it never annoyed me to the point that I wanted to move out. Lets put it this way--its one of the few places in the area that even offers underground parking. My car never got broken into, and thats good enough for me. When it comes down to it, the question is do you think you can get a much better deal for the same rent. With the two months free, my rent came out to something like $2k a month for a 2 br. Split between my roommate and I, we were each paying only $1k a month. I'd be hard pressed to find a place just as nice, that was safe and secure, for that rent. My honest opinion is some people are way more critical than others. Decide if you are a high maintenance or a low maintenance tenant. If your low maintenance, you will probably love the Halstead. If you are one of those people that will be furious if an elevator stops running or if your neighbor is loud for a couple of hours on a Saturday night...think about moving somewhere else.

The Halstead Alexandria seems like it should be avoided at all costs. I'm trying to figure out if any of the bad reviews also apply to Halstead Arlington. Perhaps someone confused the two buildings (like I originally did) when posting negative comments? Just want to verify if ALL these negative comments are indeed for the Halstead in Alexandria and not for Halstead Arlington. Thank you, P.S. anyone know anything about the Halstead Arlington??
