It's decent. Not great, but decent

I moved in 1 month ago, and am still mostly pleased with my decision. For the size and the view (facing the nature preserve), the price is great. And, for $10 more a month, I have a fireplace, which essentially doubled the size of my living room. If you've got the option of a fireplace, TAKE IT!
The last place I lived (also managed by Mark Winkler), Shirlington House, used concrete block construction, so I NEVER heard a peep from a neighbor. This is different, though it could be a lot worse. I do hear my neighbors loud music, and have a few issues with a neighbor's home theater after midnight... But that, to me, is typical apartment life.
So far, I like my neighbors, I have a relativly quiet building. If you don't like a lot of kids around, don't rent near the playground. I'm glad I didn't, there are two or three sweet kids downstairs, and I've had no issues with them.
Even so, when I moved in, I immediatly had several small maintenence issues, which were dealt with promptly. Management isn't the nicest, but killing them with kindness is the key, I've found.
One major drawback--When I first moved in, the tags on my car were expired, so I had to park on the street until I could update them and get a parking pass. And my car was broken into and my stereo stolen. When I reported it to the police, they told me that during a two week period, there had been a rash of 300 car break-ins. So it's not just that area. I feel much safer now with my car parked in the well-lit lot.
