Ever lived in Hell'

I lived at Hillwood for 2 long, torturous, and agonizing years. If I could have moved to someplace more affordable, I WOULD have! Biggest complaints after 2 years: noisy/rude neighbors, no parking, uncontrollable ant problem in kitchen (gross), and a maintenance staff that was on par with Elmer Fudd. Their parking lot towing rule (if you don't have a pass/visitor's sticker, you get towed) is NOT strongly enforced and there were nights I could not find a place to park. Even if you have a 2 bedroom apartment, you only get 1 parking sticker- the other person will be lucky if they can find a spot on the street.
The neighbors I have were rude beyond belief. Even after repeated complaints to both the management office AND the police, it never ended. They would take up 3-4 spots in the parking lot cleaning out/washing their cars, and space was at a premium! I had a ground unit, so they would walk up and down the sidewalk outside my bedroom window at 1am yelling on their cell phones. They drove their cars up on the grass (an offense punishable by eviction, or so the lease says) and blared their stereos- outside my bedroom window. Nothing short of moving out took care of that.
The ants in kitchen took the cake, however. Literally. I am former military and run a clean ship; I have never left food out unwrapped or had garbage smelling up the premesis. For 2 springs in a row I was forced to deal with an infestation of ants, and this is really no exaggeration. I was unable to cook because they were EVERYWHERE. They came in through the craks along the floor linoleum, around the window frames, pouring in from under the kitchen cabinets. I had the "exterminators" in a total of 4 times each spring, with NO RESULTS!! Management told me to "give it time." I spent over $100 on pest control products, but it didn't go away until mid-summer. It was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen.
There were good aspects, and to be fair I feel it necessary to list them: free shuttle to Pentagon City Metro, large apartment floorplans (my 1 bedroom was, at least), and very convenient to the shops at Mark Center.

Hi, Im viewing the site to check out the apartments. I of course cant help you with anything but the ant problem - use salt. Use regular table salt around the windows, countertops or wherever you find ants - its a natural repellant. Seriously, I guarentee it!

Good Luck!
