Love the Area; Hillwood is nice.

We're going on our 2nd year here and the apartments are spacious for the price. They are pretty sound proof, accept for the occasional super loud crying baby or loud party, but we are living around PEOPLE so some noise is expected and just enough to make sure you're living around other those who are alive.
Parking fills up pretty quickly in the evenings but pretty much good parking policy. You get a space per resident on lease I think...
You can have up to 2 cats. If you move in with them they will make you pay a deposit. You can bar-b-que on the balcony (no gas grills though)
Rental fee incluces "free" shuttle to the Pentagon City metro which is super convenient as the DASH bus takes 20 mins. just to get to King Street Metro near the end of the blue line and you have to walk a ways to get to the Metro Bus to Pentagon, both which you have to pay to get on anyways.
Walking distance to a shopping center (Giant, CVS, Cleaners, Blockbuster, Dairy Queen and Starbucks...to mention a few)
Neighbors are pretty friendly but most stay to themselves. All in all your experience will depend on your building and neighbors but under all circumstances Hillwood is a great community for the money.
We've had like 4 mice in the last 6 months but we live right next to the woods so it's not a huge surprise it beats other "vermin" (no roaches in our place THANK GOD)but I have visited another building and they did have roaches so be clean and you should be fine.
The staff can be a slightly less than professional but no big problem with them so far. They probably not paying these people high salaries so you get what you pay for...

nope don't work here just live here. I live my life by trying to find the GOOD in things. Sure I have neighbors who make noise at 3:00 a.m. at times but it's not every night and even so it's not Hillwood's fault if some people are noisy here and there. It's just my honest opinion and it's sad when someone has something NICE to say it's hard to believe. I guess negative people are a lot more opininated and LOUD with than those who aren't.

sorry to break the news to you, grilling is not permitted at all, no matter what type of grill you have. at least that was the response i got last week when i called the inept staff at Hillwood.
