My friend who was visiting was robbed at gunpoint on the property while leaving my place. This is out of control of management but just an FYI. I have to meet my wife at her car at night and walk her in at night because she doesn't feel safe.
Now for the less serious things:
Rude staff, inconsistent renting policy, (won't allow subleasing if you need to buy a house-they will require a 2 month notice in addition to a 2 month rent cash penalty). The on site laundry room is filthy! The machines are disgusting and are never cleaned by the apartment complex. You will hate putting your clothes in them. Also the machines do not work well and often steal your money.
The heater vents here have probably never been cleaned. I hate having the heat on because it just blows dusty air which makes it difficult to breathe and get a peaceful night of sleep.
This place goes downhill everyday!
I bet you the good reviews are written by the staff. Staff if you are reading this - Take care of the property and treat your renters as paying customers - not liabilities! Invest in them and the property and you won't have to worry about what is being written here!

I feel your pain. I am a resident at Hillwood and soon to vacate and back in November someone tried to break in my place. I called the rental office and explained what happend and I recieved nothing. I have lived here for three years and since the Winkler family sold the Mark Center land to JBG, I have very dissatified living here.

To the person with the dirty vents-buy a few cheap space heaters and use the electricity you pay for rather than pay the gas bill and don't breathe in the dust; I think every one agrees that JBG has neglected the property and residents - all they care about it money and they are milking it; the place is filthy - trash everywhere - the custodians were fired and the recycle bins always overflow; I have a nutty neighbor who actually puts trash near my door once a month, right after the rent is paid, in protest that I am still in the unit and cramping his need to make noise style by complaining about him; and oh, by the way, management is useless if you have a problem; the police can only do so much; so the best thing to do is vote with your feet and not renew.
