Yo!

CONSTRUCTION HELL-CAN'T WAIT TO LEAVE!

From: -Anonymous-
Date posted: 2/24/2004
Years at this apartment: 2000 - 2004

When my husband and I first moved into Hunting Terrace (across the street from the towers)in late 2000, it was a great deal--nice apartments close to Old Town and reasonable rent. Then, the construction started, VDOT purchased the building, and Grady Management took over. (When you put property management out to the lowest bidder as VDOT did, you get what you pay for.)
It has become pure hell to live here.
Pile driving and demolition shakes the building and there are cracks in every room of our apartment. And, with so many trees torn down and the demolished buildings there is nothing to protect the remaining buildings from the Beltway and ongoing construction through 2008.(Don't live here if you ever want to open your windows.)
Over the summer of 2003 the sidewalks in front of the Terrace buildings were ripped up and residents were left to climb over chunks of grass, asphalt and dirt--very unsafe--for over a week.
Ask Grady Management or VDOT about the construction schedule and they will blatantly lie.
Parking has also become a nightmare. With so few spaces, cars seem to park all over the place.
Also, while Kay Management, the previous property managers, seemed to respond to maintenance requests, Grady Management is completely incompetent. It took them two weeks to fully repair a leak in the ceiling and when our sink was stopped they waited a few days to fix it, and that was after repeated phone calls. Further, when repairs are made, there is no note or evidence they have come into your apartment.
I also agree with someone who said residents have absolutely no control over heat. Though there are dials on the radiators sometimes they can be fully cranked with no results. Other days the dials are off yet heat comes pouring out.
The building also used to be very pet friendly but they have started charging both a pet deposit and pet rent.
Grady Management also appears to have lowered its standards when it comes to new tenants (maybe considering the place is hell it's hard to get anyone.) Newer residents have more cars, are less inclined to be part of the community and are louder.
Our new upstairs neighbors are very loud. We hear their every move, from their alarm clock in the morning and them laughing to every footstep they make and their loud sex (and we're not just hearing the bed.)Last week one of them had a cold and we were up all night listening to them hack.
My husband and I would have left long ago but we both travel a lot which makes it difficult to look for another apartment. We plan on leaving very soon.
I would only recommend this apartment to my enemies and even then with hesitation.
