Negatives outweigh the positives

I have to agree with some of the other reviews posted, Huntington Gateway is not located in the best area. Although it is one of the nicer building, its surroundings are bad. I'm glad there is a shutte to the Metro, because I would not feel comfortable walking that stretch by myself.

The negatives outweigh the positives.

*Very noisy, can hear neighbors talking on the phone/watching TV.

*Had problems with ants. Maintenance hasn't been able to get rid of them even though they have come to my apartment multiple times (I'm on the 8th floor).

*Lots of problems with appliances (older). The washer/dryer is stackable, so it is very small. Noisy and takes a long time to dry (at least 2 full cycles in the dryer).

*The garage has issues. Even though you need an access card to get in and out, the garage doors stay open for longs periods of time. I was in a line of 5 cars that managed to get into the garage under the first person's access card.

*Lots of problems getting packages and mail. Often misplaced, or given to the wrong apartment.

*Seem to be having lots of problems with power going out.

*Management and office staff are quite rude. I avoid dealing with them as much as possible.

Rent is high, considering what you get. Small apartments, cheap fixtures (i.e. the ceiling fans/kitchen - must be from the 80's), no storage whatsoever.

Keep looking. You can get a better apartment in Fairfax that's cheaper, in a good location, and still close to the metro.

I had the same experience when I lived at H. Gateway. I later moved to Kingstowne, but found thin floors and thick walls; the opposite of this apartment complex. So, where to go? Rent a home if you can. Cheap construction, noise and high rent is all around the Northern Virginia area.
