I'm afraid to go home

What started out as a roach problem, broken appliances, sketchy neighbors, and noise (which was all bad in itself) has escalated into a rodent infestation (in my actual apartment), a 14 by 14 inch hole in my bathroom wall that was made by the maintenance people to fix a broken pipe and hasn't been fixed in over 28 days, a gas leak, and refusal of management to do anything about my problems. I have spent a third of the last month staying with friends because I am too unnerved to stay in the hell hole that is the Kingsport.
After staying with friends a few weekends ago when my apartment was ripe with the horrific smell of rodents decaying in the walls, I came home to find that the lock on my door had been removed and was sitting in the hallway (this was at 11:00 PM). I had to spend yet another night with friends while it took them a day and a half to replace the lock. Want to know what they told me''' Um, our maintenance staff needed to get into your apartment and they couldn't find the key----so you removed my lock and left it on the ground and my apartment totally unsecure for anyone to enter'!>' What the hell!!!!
After a recent gas leak that caused me to spend yet another night with friends, I returned to find two furry friends dead on my kitchen floor from the gas fumes. Lovely.
I am in the process of filing charges against the Kingsport and Equity Residential.
Plus, the prices aren't that great----while my rent is about $900--I pay an additional $70 a month in "sewage, garbage, etc" fees to Kingsport and all of my utilities (which, due to things like gas leaks and drafty windows end up costing around $200 total). For $1170 you can find a much better place. Please, don't make the same mistake I did.
And yes, I am a single woman and you get harassed like crazy. Bad, bad move on my part living here.
