First apartment in the DC area. Lived here for 3 years until my wife and I picked a more permanent place to live. It was great as a temporary place, and you get what you pay for.
Something's funny with the ventilation in the building. Got to smell all the fantastic smells / cigarette smoke from other apartments. I kept our balcony sliding door cracked open the whole time we lived there 24/7/365 - the air pressure helped force the bad smells out into the hallway. There was always a few weeks of unbearable heat in the springtime until they turned the building AC on, and a few weeks of cold in the fall until they switched it back.
Parking is very limited and tight. I would fear having a nice car there. One of our cars had it's license plates stolen while we were there. Snowstorms only amplified the parking problems. And the tow trucks! They must be in on the scam or something - visitors always getting towed, right at 12:01 am.
Didn't have much of a roach problem after I disassembled the dishwasher and killed all of them (they made a nest in the door). Boy that was fun.
The apartment was large, freshly painted, new carpet, kitchen was about average. No real complaints about maintenance. Heard some noise from above and neighbors, but you will get that in any apartment.
We experienced the Connie years. Boy was she a beyotch. Glad to hear she is gone.
