The apartment was a value for most of the northern VA area. The location of it made it good for access for the 4 mile run bike trail, but it also made it close to the town of Arlandria. Unfortunately, Arlandria consists of a very large Hispanic population. It definately made me feel out of place at times. The area is safe at night time, but don't expect to be within walking distance of any activities. 395 is about a mile away so commuting is a breeze.
The apartment is spacious for a one bedroom. I wasn't a fan of the older construction. No dishwasher, small kitchen, very noisy hardwood floors, and window AC, but for the price I was satisfied for how it was. I didn't have a pest problem as others may have commented, but the washer/dryer area definately needs work.
Overall, in my previous situation the apartment allowed me an opportunity to save some money, but at this point I don't want to put up with the lack of ammenties. However, I would recommend living here if you enjoy the proximity to the city, but can't afford the city rents.
