Pretty good value for the apt size, location, and amenities.

Dimensions: The 1BR is huge, I can easily fit 2 queen-sized inflatable mattresses in my living room for guests. I have no idea what the area (square feet) is but it's quite generous.
Conveniences inside the apt: I received a brand new refrigerator, gas stove, and wall-to-wall carpeting. There's a dishwasher in each unit and both trash and laundry on each floor. This is very nice.
Conveniences outside the apt: There's the Landmark mall about a 5-10 min walk away. There's Giant Food (grocery store) about a 20 min walk away. It's right across from a McDonald's, a Seven Eleven, etc. There's a hair salon, Shooter McGee's restaurant, etc also across the street. There's a CVS about a 5-10 min walk away.
Community: Diverse crowd, people move in, people move out. You smell ethnic foods as you walk down your hallway. People are polite, I feel safe here. A/C and heat work fine; gets a bit dry so I use a humidifier.
Commute: I ride the 21B bus (right outside the apt) to Pentagon Metro stop (blue line) then commute on the metro to McPherson Square Metro where I work on 13th and L st in Washington DC; door to door, it's around 45 minutes in the morning, 55 minutes in the evening. I used to take the bus to King street Metro then ride the blue line up to McPherson Square, this was taking me closer to 65 minutes each way. The closest metro stop is Van Dorn street Metro, it's a 1.5 mile walk.
Annoyances: There's a Fire Station just across the street, you'll get used to this noise after a few months; people I'm talking with on the phone can hear this noise, or the noise from police cars going by on Duke St. It's not a lot of noise, it's just there, and the side-by-side sliding glass doors leading out to the balcony don't really block this noise out in the living room; but it's pretty quiet in the bedroom. Guest parking: there is none. You have them park on the street between the apartment complex and McDonald's or out closer to where CVS is, either way this isn't all that convenient. I sold my car and simply put my sticker on my guest's car, this has worked fine for the time being. There aren't any electricity outlets in the bathroom so you have to use an extension cord from your bedroom to use cordless shavers, blow driers, etc. Paying for my share of water; this is odd, I pay around $25/month for my share. I talked to the billing company about this because their bills provided me with no information, what happens is that the building's water bill is divided between the units as there is no separate meter for each unit.

2 things that you're wrong about. I'm in the high rise building here and we have electrical outlets in the bathroom. Also, there isn't specifically guest parking, but guests CAN park in the lot until midnight. Midnight to 6am is when guests aren't allowed in the parking lot.
Also, the fire station shouldn't be a bad thing. So it's noisy, big deal. If your apartment ever catches fire, at least they can probably see the flames from their station (meaning it'll get put out real quick).
