I currently reside at Lynbrook with my mom. I have only been a tenant since July 2005 and my mom has been there (10) years! Yes, 10 years. Let me tell you about my experience the best I can. First of all we live on Sheffield court and the building we live in is ok, really. I had NEVER, EVER seen one roach until last July and we saw a couple. Ok a couple is too many for me and we immediately mixed up some stuff my mom makes with boric acid, sugar and something else. Well, it works and we put thin lines down. I say we when I actually had nothing to do with the procedure I hadn't seen a roach since until we had to remove it because of the cat we had. While we had the cat, no roaches and then about 3 weeks ago I saw one coming out of the Stove! It grossed me out so bad that my mom HAD to get up out of her sleep to do something about it. My son said there was one coming from under his bed. My mom made the mixture and no roaches. We keep the house clean, take the trash out daily or every other day and we don't have any leaks. So, I can't really say we have an infestation of insects because we don't.
Overall the building is pretty quiet except the folks that live on top of us. It's a nice Indian couple that have (2) bad azz girls. I mean at 11p the kids are playing on the trampoline or it seems like they have one up there. They vacuum at all hours of the day and night but I take that with a grain of salt as well because we are RENTING. If I want absolute quiet I need to purchase a house, which I can't so I just deal with it. I tried going up there and writing a letter but it doesn't work. There really isn't any place for the kids to play so I sympathize. I have a 7 and 13 yearold myself.
The laundry room has 3 washers and 2 dryers and for the most part they work ok. It seems no one wants to wash until I come and then it's a race to take your clothes in and out or otherwise someone else will do it for you. That aggravates the "chit" out of my boyfriend because the thought of some man touching my underwear drives him insane. Again, I should stay down there with my clothes or buy a house or rent someplace with my own W/D which I cannnot afford so again, I deal with it.
I appreciate the free shuttle although it gets extremely crowded and is not worth the free ride to me especially since my job pays 100% of my transportation.
My mom's apartment has not been remodeled in 10 years and the tub is peeling, we just take showers.
The closet space is adequate and so is the apartment itself.
Parking is not that big of an issue for me. I park in front of our building on the street most times or on the lot. I really don't care if it's a ways from the unit. Things like that do not upset me. We choose to live in Alexandria or anywhere close to the city. Move to Woodbridge if you want something different then the complaint may or not be on the parking or old apartments then it would be about the traffic.
Lynbrook is on a good busline, near everything and minutes from 395 and 495. MWC is now owned by JBG or something like that so maybe they will read the ratings and do something about it.
I like the free gym, movies, and other things offered although we never partake in them.
I will most likely end up with a unit in one of the surrounding properties until I can afford to do better. I cannot deal with ROACHES, that would be my only complaint. Otherwise I would reccommend Lynbrook.
You read the ratings, take notes and when you are doing your walk through or viewing your apartment you look behind the fridge. Look for the grout or whatever the other complaints were. Nothing is perfect and yes it should live up to the advertising but everyone will live differently and with 5 million people living in one complex, what can you expect'

I would reccommend Lynnbrook. I did something wrong when I wrote my review (sorry).
