I have lived in manor house for about a year now. Overall I have enjoyed it, but I'm seriously considering moving in the next few months. Like most places it has both pros and cons - it may be a good option for someone looking for a new place, just be aware of what to expect!
Pro: - Beautiful interior, apartments have been redone with crown molding and nice paint job. - Currently repainting and installing new carpet in hallways. - Nice neighborhood, haven't had any problems with safety. - Management is generally responsive, although I try to avoid talking to Olivia. - Hardwood floors.
Con: - Walls are thin. This is only a problem if you have a particularly noisy neighbor, which I do. - Roaches. The management keeps spraying, but it seems to be a pretty serious infestation. - Also had a problem with mice at one point, although not lately.
Other: - Paint cracks, but it isn't really a big deal. - Coin op laundry always sucks, but I haven't had much of a problem with the sign up sheets. Machines do occasionally eat quarters or otherwise malfunction. - Parking is fine. I almost never park in the lot, but there's lots of street parking. - Rent seems overpriced at $1200 for a 1bdrm in 2006, but that's all of the DC area.
