I lived in Manor House when I first moved to Washington- before I had much time to look around and compare my choices. The apartment was nice upon first glance, and more spacious that most in DC, but the problems with management were a headache. Like other posters here, I did not receive my security deposit back, even though I spent about a week after my furniture was moved out cleaning, scrubbing and painting. On several occasions, staff entered my apartment with no notice (which is illegal in VA), and disturbed my belongings (esp. after I gave my 2 month notice to vacate). Be aware they require 2 month notice to terminate lease and you must give notice on the first of the month, so that is akin to 2 months. Parking is very difficult in the lot and the spaces are very small- my car was dented and scratched several times while parking in that lot. For the area, the apartments are overpriced- I now live in the same neighborhood, but pay 200 less a month. I had a big problem with roaches, and esp. ants toward the end of my tenure there. I would whole heartedly tell anyone who is considering this place to keep looking. I wish someone had given me warning before moving in. Thanks to apartment ratings.com for this forum to complain. As a tennant, I always feel like the little guy. This is one small way we can really make a difference when we are treated poorly by apartment management.
