Despite a few cosmetic enhancements to raise rent, Mason Hall isn't the place it used to be. The cockroach infestations are so bad now that even a visit from the exterminator doesn't keep them away. I should know, I've just killed two in my apartment tonight.

The garbage rooms make the building stink and the place in general smells like a fraternity - stale air, smoke, etc. It's really a shame. I used to love this place.

It's not just that the apartments don't have washer and dryer, but they also don't have central air and the heating system is a mess in the winter, along with the awful air drafts due to the fact that they don't remove the window air-conditioning units ever. Also, there aren't dishwashers in every apartment because the wiring in the building is in poor shape - and for those apartments that do have a dishwasher...they get one less A/C unit.

The game room opened less than a month ago, shorter than one of the elevators has been broken down. This is a sprawling building and only one elevator serves each section of the building. Also - rent just hit a big increase and it's simple to figure out that the building had to gin up some kind of communal space to justify raising rent on par with nicer placers on the market and closer to the metro.

People used to rent at Mason Hall because it was a good deal. You can rent a 2 bedroom house now for $1,800 a month in the same neighborhood - why ever rent at Mason Hall - right next to the railroad tracks'

For parking, there are no assigned spots and not enough spaces for every car. Plus spaces are small and me and my fellow tenants have seen residents hit cars while parking. Now people with new cars always try to snag the couple of spots off to the side along the print building so no one can park next to them and hit their cars.

My overall rating is a 2 because they don't have stars for things like pests on site, city bus getting to drive through the building's parking lot, embarrassing garbage rooms, etc.
