Good place to live

We really like our apartment. We have the advantage of living in Phase II, on an upper floor, facing north (great views!) and at the end of a hallway. We have no problems with noise from any neighbors and rarely hear any noise from the hallway. We don't open our windows much because of all the outside noises - trains, planes and automobiles! In one and a half years, we've never had any negative interactions with "interns" and weren't even aware that they existed in such large numbers.

The workmanship of the apartment is not up to the luxurious standards advertised with pretty cheap paint, carpet and vinyl flooring, but the layout is good, and the appliances are serviceable. The scheduled maintenance is done with plenty of notice and very professionally.

Our biggest frustration is getting any repair or maintenance issues addressed in a timely manner. There seems to be no reliable procedure for getting a request to the maintenance people, and we've had to wait for up to a month and 4 requests to get simple problems addressed. Once the maintenance staff shows up, though, they do a good job and are always polite and competent.

We've found the daytime concierge helpful and friendly, but some of the people on other shifts are less so and sometimes almost hostile. Office staff are generally indifferent and unreliable.

We don't experience any problems with using the aerobic or weight rooms, either during the day or in the early evenings. For the most part, we've been able to use the club room without interference, mainly to watch cable TV.

Accessibility of Metro and Old Town are big selling points for us. National Airport is very convenient. The neighborhood is mixed residential and commercial, and we feel safe walking anywhere in the vicinity during the day. Post office, grocery stores, Trader Joe's and the library are comfortable walks away.

We enjoy the tenant appreciation events thrown periodically by staff. The common areas of the buildings and grounds are attractive and well-maintained.

Overall, this is a good place to live.
