The Interns point of view

I lived here as an Intern in the spring of 2006. While looking at the reviews below I can see alot of people are very upset that they have to share their living space with people in their early 20s. Interns have to pay to come down to Washington for a chance to get exposed to how the government functions and to get some first hand experience. We work 36 to 40 hours a week just like every one else. We also have classes and lots of otehr responsibilities to deal with. We also mostly do not get paid.
We did not choose to live here, we were placed in this environment with strangers as roomamtes and have to find a way to dea lwith everything. If we drink or try to have fun on the weekends, so what, we are not stopping anyone else from doing what they want. We do not chase 40 year old men out of the common areas. So what if we stay up late on a weeknight, just ask us to keep it down and we will. More then half us here are graduating within 6 monthes and if we need to know that we are not acting our age it will most likely be appreciated. I for one will not instantly start going to bed at 9:30 once I graduate and will still do the same things I do now.
Well anyway as an intern we get the crappiest apartments with gross rugs that are stained and torn up, appliances from the 1980s and very little attention from the staff, which are actually not bad people if you are not a total jerk to them and demand things like you are the only person there.
The proximity of the metro is a nice bonus for those of us that do not have cars down here.
