I have lived in the phase 2 (newer, taller building) for about 6 months now. Overall, I am pleased with the apartment, surrounding neighborhood, staff and ammenities.
I was skeptical about moving here after reading reviews on this website. I thought it funny that a past reader blamed mail delivery on the apartment complex...that really is a problem of the USPS. And read your lease' Well, duh! You should read any legal document before you sign!
Things I have discovered since living here: --The apartment ventilation does not extend to the bathroom. It can get hot/cold in there, especially at shower time. --The sunroom is enclosed and does have a heating/cooling vent and ceiling fan. The vent is not sufficient to control room temperature. In other words, not suitable for a computer, bed, etc. This room ran about 20 degrees cooler over the winter. --Staff is friendly and helpful. Maintenance issues, what few there are, have been handled quickly. --The neighborhood is mixed. Public housing is nearby. Thus far, I have had no problems while out walking/biking. Old Town is within walking distance. Potomac River trails and some parks are also very close. --Rarely hear the neighbors. The weak spot is the entry door. Check that out if you look at an apartment near the elevator. I do hear the "bounce" as kitchen cabinets close. --Single basin kitchen sink. What is it with the northeast and single basin sinks' --My drive south to the Ft Belvoir area is a breeze...against, not with, traffic at 7:30AM. --This place is conveiniant to National Airport and most importantly, the metro! The yellow and blue lines are a 5 minute walk out the back door.
Overall, recommend you shop around. If this is the neighborhood you want, I recommend this place.
