Used to be a nice place to live

We recently left after four years. It has gone downhill the entire time. Mgmt went from being unresponsive under Michelle to downright rude under Irina. Staff turnover in the office is high, which doesn't help. Common carpets are worn and dirty. Local area is noisy with construction.Bikes were stolen from locked bike cage in locked garage with little concern from mgmt. Rent goes up and up without any improvements. We used to recommend MC. We would not do so now.

A couple of things... I've lived here two years and the only time I've had to deal with the office staff was when I signed my first lease. Why on Earth you needed to bother them enough to deem them rude is beyond me. Yes there is a bike cage but you still need to lock your bike up... these two points lead me to believe you are an idiot. As for construction noise I don't notice any because I'm at work. As for rent going up each year, this may be your only valid point, it's too much every year.

Property Management is a "for profit" business. As a consumer and a home owner, I would recommend both of you "idiots" buy something so you can stop whining about the cost of living in someone elses property.

Grow up already!!! I have lived here for 6 years now and it is because of the customer service that I am still here. Yes, the apartments are not cheap, but I'd rather pay more and be happy. Besides, if you were SO MISERABLE, why did you stay for 4 years?

Completely agree with initial review. While I do not find the staff lacking in courtesy or efficiency, I find the building itself becoming a bit "thread-bare" since Michelle left. Carpet is worn and/or dirty in common spaces and my floor hallway desperately needs repainting. The recent hall "touch-ups" are not the same color as the original and even those touch-ups seem to have ceased leaving the walls dirty and scraped.
There are many new apartment complexes in the Alexandria area and if I weren't moving and leaving the area in a few months, I would relocate to a building that is better maintained - especially if I'm going to pay top dollar.

Ditto to the original poster. It's not that the Meridian is a bad place to live, but in looking back to when I originally moved in (January 2005) I've seen major changes take place -- ones that aren't for the better. A couple examples...
Maintenance is decent, but I've had to resubmit requests multiple times for both small and large things to be repaired; when I first moved here, the maintenance staff was far superior to what it is today. Building amenities are just so-so, the workout equipment is quickly becoming outdated (and three treadmills aren't enough for a building with 400 units) and the carpeting and furniture in the common areas need to be replaced.
Like the poster above, I expect a lot from a building when I'm paying over $1600 in rent alone (I have a one-bedroom apt) to live there. (That's right, NO utilities are included in your rent. Not even water.) Rents are raised $100 every year, yet the quality of the building and services offered are constantly declining. My lease is up in August and I won't be renewing.
