Being my 1st apartment fresh out of college, I think I was blessed to find a place like Mt. Vernon Square. I've been living here for about 2 months, and thus far it's been a pretty good experience.
I'll say that the leasing guys don't really seem to know what they're doing sometimes, but I kind of found it amusing in a way. People are people and no one is perfect. I suggest always asking questions and being patient with them when dealing with issues.
The maintenence staff seems to take a little while to get things done, but I have no problem with calling or re-calling them or management if I have an issue that has taken too long to resolve, and they do respond.
The laundry room is a little dank looking...with the storage units and all of that, but it's manageable so far.
Lots of space in my one bedroom, and they're good with letting you customize the place. I painted and all of that, and they had no issue with it.
Parking is plentiful, so that's a plus.
Great location in terms of proximity to shopping centers.
The neighbors seem ok. I see a lot of children and families around, so it seems like a very familiy-friendly place. There's even a playground and day car center for the kids.
All in all, Mt. Vernon Square is a great place to live so far. I haven't experienced any of the issues that other posters have, but I guess that's a plus to living above ground level (a great idea for single women like me) - no roaches, rodents, or flooding!
I've recommended Mt. Vernon Square to my friends, and would suggest that you take a look for yourself. :-)
