Hi, I've been leaving in Orleans village for a little over a year and a half and I'm not renewing my lease this time!!! I should have never renewed but i never received any notice that my lease was up so when came august i was hit with $200 extra per month!Before i could move out i had to give a 30 day notice and was still getting charged $200 extra per months......unless i renewed and those charges would be reimbursed to me. Next time i moved i really want to find the perfect place so i decided to stay here for one more year. But let me tell you about the Hell it's been......
The first 2 weeks i was in the apartment it was great and then BAMM! Roaches! I thought i was gonna die. I'm from a place where you only see them on TV! I called the management to get it fixed, but after dealing with the incompetence of that office i realized real quick the kind of language they understood was....the rude one! So i helped myself to quite a few threats of calling the health inspection and refusing to pay my rent if some issues like runny sink or shower were not fixed. But i have to say that the time i had the best and fastest result is when i contacted the general manager for Home Properties in the Northern VA area. Whoa, she was a mean one, she lashed out at them like an angry dog! So much that i had someone in my apartment the next day, and they had fixed the broken dryer that i had complained about for the last 3 months within 48h. Don't hesitate to contact her she's great!
The roach issue, after having my apartment treated twice a month and requesting to have the whole building treated 1 a month for 3 months;and having the manager inspect some of the units in my building, have almost disappeared. the last roach I've seen was about 6 months ago i think. I bought some roach traps and had my apartment treated....one more time! as well as the building!
Let's not forget to talk about the parking situation, what a pain!!After 10pm you'll have to park on the other side of the apartment complex, and walk 5-7 min to your apartment. No need to say that if you are a woman, invest in a pepper spray, you won't regret it! And what about the loud neighbors, what could i say about those one' Well nothing that anyone hasn't say before, they're honking the horn at 2am or 5am, playing loud music outside in their car. I have a big mouth, and don't hesitate telling those scum bags what i think. As a matter of fact i became the number one nightmare of the management office. As soon as i see garbage standing outside someone apartment( which is probably why we have roaches), or someone smoking a joint on their patio and the nasty smell come trough the open window in my apartment because it's April, it's freaking hot and they haven't turned on the AC yet.... i just call the management office and Harris them until it's taking care of.
The people who live here, and I'm sorry to say are --------- or Africans, have no respect for people, they let their kids yell in the hallway at night when they do their laundry, they'll leave their loads in the laundry machine overnight, speak on their cell phone outside your door because it's so crowded in their apartment that they don't have any privacy!.......
You see my point, it a terrible place to live in. The apartment are big and that's nice but what is the point if you have roaches and are embarressed to have anyone over for diner in case one just pop up!!!!
My advice' Don't move here, and if unfortunately you already have and have to live here like me, i advise you to become the managment office nightmare #2, and #3.....maybe then we'll get what we want and what we pay for.....a nice place to live
