Enough is enough...

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
My husband and I moved into Parcview almost a year ago. When we first moved in I thought it might be an apartment I would want to stay in for 2-4 years. It was quaint and with the renovations had some nice new items (carpet, stove, cupboards). But almost a year later, I am counting the days till our lease is up so that I can get out.
First off, let me say that Parcview is all about first impressions. The lobby and rental office are modern and posh looking, but dont be fooled. Everything from that point on is old, rotten, and often un-safe. The hallway carpet is rotten and mildewed. The elevators barely function and are constantly so dirty it makes you sick. Although they do a good job of covering it up, there IS in fact a roach problem.
The electricity, although included in your rent, is shotty at best. On two seperate occasions this year we have had to throw out all the groceries in our fridge and freezer due to power being out for upwards of 10 hours at a time. The longest it has been out was for 17 hours. This was on a day that it was snowing, so we had no heat either. Management claims no responsibility for these outages, even though every other building on the street has power. If it is on the weekend or after hours, chances are that maintenance wont even look into the situation, as they never come in afterhours for anything.
Parcview is currently undergoing renovations that require their residents to constantly be moving their own furniture and preparing their apartments for workers to come in. They recently replaced our toilet and sink fixtures, but after a year still have not fixed the leaky shower faucet we reported upon move in inspection.
We recently were locked out of our own apartment by maintenance, as after many requests, they still havn't given us a key to our own deadbolt lock. We had to foot a $200.00 locksmith bill to get into our apartment because maintenance doesn't do "afterhours lock outs". The locksmith said it was the first time in his career he had ever heard of such an insane policy.
Because of the maintenance work, the fire alarms are constantly sounding for no reason. It is to the point where no one bothers to leave the building because they are tired of false alarms. Residents would rather burn down with the building than exit in an orderly fashion once again.
The crime in the area is spiking and I no longer feel safe when my husband is out of town. Anyone can get in, as all the residents willingly let anyone in without questioning it.
Another minor irritation is the office's hours, as they leave the office for long periods of time without notice on the weekends, and close so early on week nights that you have to wait till the weekend to pick up your packages.
I would never recomend Parcview to anyone, and would sooner live in a hotel than pay rent here one month longer than I have to. My husband and I will be vacating the very week our lease expires. This is the worst rental experience we have ever had.
