I can tell you honestly that we tried the nice way of getting things done here. I am talking major items. Gas leaks that the management doesn't care about that you can smell from the outside. And much more, trust me.
I believe customer service begins at the highest level and works it way down. We contacted the home office on several things and did not even receive a call back. In one message I told them that the gas leak was so severe that we finally called the fire department and they found the leak.
I love the apartment when we first moved in. But, as time went on there were several things that changed. The "class" of people went from working professsional to "section 8" types. Several teens are always unsupervised and causing trouble. But the office is afraid to write a letter detailing the issuses because they are afraid the parents will be upset. I don't think stating the truth should avoid writing a letter. (ie: kids making out in the hallways, setting the lawn on fire, rolling blading in the hallways and the list goes on) I know management can only do so much but I think it is a shame that the good people are leaving. I agree with other statements on here about they are very helpful til you get into the apartment then all bets are off. simple things never seem to get done around here. We had bugs running in the apartment from the mulch that was laid. A service tech came to spray inside and explained it was against EPA to spray inside. So, I called the office and was told in no un ceratin terms that they would glady let me out of my lease because this wasn't working out. Just because I don't want bugs doesn't mean I want to move again after being there less than a year. I couldn't afford to move after having a baby and just moving to the area. So when push comes to shove they don't care because they know they can just get another sucker to rent. Glad to be gone. Not a sermon, just a thought.

We had carbon monoxide detectors go off all the time -- they'd come an hour or so later, after we were waiting outside in the cold -- and tell us it was a malfunction, and that all the new detectors did that, just to ignore it. Yeah, that's a good idea.

After a major flood in her apartment, a former tenant contacted RREEF Corporate when Park Place at Van Dorn Property Management was unresponsive. Their representative, Shelley A Brooks, District Manager RREEF, didn't return her repeated calls. The only way the tenant got results was by calling the Virginia Department of Health who promptly responded, inspected the premises, and directed Park Place at Van to do what was necessary.

We had the exact same problem with the CO detectors. They said they were a "bad batch", whatever that means. And we had to wait out in January for them to show up.

Is this "Archstone Management" or "Park Place Management", are they the same, has management changed? It is 2008 when I write this, which is more than 2 years after the comments above. Have things changed?
