On 20 July 2005, I sent the message below to RREEF hoping they would intervene and take correction action to repair the damaged reputation of this community:
On RREEF's web site, there is no Residential point of contact for Property Management. I'm contacting you in the hopes that you can relay this information to the appropriate office. I want to make your company aware of a growing problem with RREEF's rental property Park Place at Van Dorn in Alexandria, Virginia 22310. I believe it is extremely important for someone at your company to read the comments about this property at www.apartmentratings.com. The overall rating continues to decrease and is now only 45%. When I rented here in June 2003, it was the favorable comments on this site that had sold me. I don’t want to move, but am very concerned about the future of this complex.

I appreciate your concern with what you have read with regards to Park Place on that web site. The best thing you can do is to consider your own experiences with the community and decide for yourself if we
are providing you a wonderful place to live. That's what we are working towards and your personal relationship with the office is the one to focus on. I'm dismayed by the comments on the web site but I also know that if someone is unhappy, they can go directly to our site to get
resolution. If that doesn't work, our site will gladly hand out my information for further review. In every business, there are people that never seem to be pleased but there are vastly more that are very happy and unfortunately... the happier ones usually don't think to do this sort of thing. Unhappy people, whether justified or not, are far more willing to share their experiences and thus, sites like this are their way to express their issatisfaction. Generally, when management tries to respond to issues on that site, it doesn't go over well and becomes a futile attempt to persuade people to believe them. Actions speak louder than words which is why a personal relationship with our residents is the best way to resolve issues. I hope that you will continue to be pleased with your home at Park Place and please, if you have any issues, let the office know. I'm am confident our office will do their best to resolve it for you.

While there is some truth in the idea that those who are unhappy are more willing to tell their stories, there is also something to be said for the level of anger that has been created by the office staff at this property. As can be seen in other comments here, the staff sees anyone who complains as problem children or whiners, rather than taking on their responsibility and trying to resolve the situation. And that is the real problem with this property. |

The office staff at this apt complex should all be replaced. They are dishonest and hate to be bothered with tenants, only prospects. It's obvious they get a commission for renting a new apt -- they'll do anything to get a lease signed, but forget the helpfulness once you have a lease.
