So far, we are happy with our experience at Park Place.
The shuttle to the metro station is great. It comes about every 20 minutes during rush hour and it saves us money in parking.
The grounds are kept well and parking is never an issue in our area.
Depending on where you live, the complex abuts a busy road and highway, so if you want peaceful, you may not find this on your balcony or in your apartment if the windows are open.
Utilities are reasonable and the apartment is equipped with spinklers.
We've requested maintenance on two different issues in the time we've been here. We aren't sure if one item has been addressed and we know the other wasn't fixed. We aren't too thrilled with that, however the issues were not urgent in nature. If we did have a major maintenance issue, I hope that management would respond promptly.
Noise is not tolerated in this complex. Something as simple as a TV or a stereo playing can provoke complaints from surrounding residents. Alexandria noise ordinances allow for noise to be produced within reasonable sound levels during certain hours of the day and evening. Sometimes a friendly knock on the door to discuss sound levels is much more effective than calling police who can't issue a citation anyway because ordinances aren't actually being violated.
I saw a previous post about the late rent and the unreasonably high late fee (10% and a not-so-nice letter from mgmt). Though planning in advance avoids late fees, it is to be expected that we, as humans will occaisionally loose track of the date and hand in rent late. I've lived in communities previously that allow for one lateness in a calendar year, so if it does happen, management understands. Unfortunately, the management here doesn't. So, stay on top of your due dates to avoid dishing out a lot of money.
