ok, i know you probably get from all the other reviews that you should not move here but i can tell you that you really, really REALLY SHOULD NOT MOVE HERE, and back it up with concrete facts. i have lived here for more than a decade, so if anyone should know, its me. as far as the apartment itself lets go
-roaches galore, in all buildings (trust me)
-they have severe plumbing issues, water will spew uncontrollably from the sinks and toilets flooding apartments and bringing stuff from other toilets. its so bad they turn off the water for the whole building, without notice (until after!), more than twice a month and for days at a time.
-when it rains hard, water seeps through the building and literally comes through the ceiling. i'm talking chunks of the ceiling falling on the floor and all that foamy insulating stuff coming down wet with it. they just clean it, and relocate you. only to rent it out to another sucker
-hot and cold on all the faucets, especially the tub, don't work and they will not fix it. even the maintenance people admit they can only put a band aid on the issue because management wont fund a real fix.
-there are holes between the tiles on the floor (big enough to trip on) and gaps between the wall and floor. this is where all the roaches come from
now all these issues are permanent and found in all apartments, they will not fix it regardless. its an old place, and they are penny pinchers.
ok now management, ooooh management. i could almost take the flooding and roaches sad to say but management, they are far worse.
-it is a revolving door, i have seen all types, drug dealers, ho's and crazy old bats. our latest one takes the cake though.
-if you have read or seen Harry Potter you might remember Professor Umbridge.....this is her. she leaves nasty letters on the buildings front door EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR. its always something new, always derogatory and even racist. she once put a letter on how she was closing our party room that we have had forever because-and i quote- of some "ghetto people" that didn't have the sense to stay quiet. she later put up another letter apologizing if anyone was offended because she was not being offensive, stupid of us to be offended. she never admitted she was wrong. she put a bunch of other ones like, you better not put stuff on the balcony or you'll get kicked out, you better get another parking permit from us or you'll get kicked out, you better not cook these foods or you'll get kicked out, you better come to our meeting and take time out of your schedule but we wont even mention what the meeting is for - surprise! its to yell about rules!!! fooled ya!
-she didn't open the pool on memorial day because she claims someone vandalized the pool and she doesn't want to pay to get it fixed until she can send the kid to jail and kick their family out. poor children
-they repainted parking to make the spaces smaller (i cannot open my door all the way or have passengers get out of the car while im parked) and made everyone turn in their parking stickers and brought a new policy, one car per household. most people here have families, so they have to park blocks away while all i see are empty spaces in our lot. the cars on the street get vandalized too. some times people just go down the whole line and scratch them all with a key and break their windows. evenly too. i have a hard time driving home just because the road is so crowded.
-they leave trash truck things lying around the whole property for "maintenance" work. its been over a year, the stuff is still there and it still stinks. it also looks very tacky.
-the construction people that work there are reckless, they work on the roofs and throw their nails and wood planks off the buildings and onto the sidewalk, one hit this little kid and almost hit me. they still work there.
- the landlady's motto is assume that tenants are breaking the rules, even if you don't have proof, and accuse them FIRST! then when you get a reaction out of them you can find out if they have followed the rules or not. its a win win situation to them, they just shrug their shoulders and go ok, i have spared your life you may go (while putting the fear of god in the tenant) or actually find out that they were in fact breaking the rules without even having to investigate. pure scare tactics, just the place anyone would like to call home right'
i could go on and on but you know what, its obvious, the lady is bitter and talks down to people. i've seen so many empty apartments these days, i wonder why. she raises the rent like crazy but gives 0% back in return. i love alexandria. i kind of even liked my apartment cuz of you know, sentimental value. but enough is enough and i am getting the heck out of here! i hate being treated like i'm at a boarding school and or like management is being charitable by allowing me to bask in their glory. we are paying customers, how is that even after we have paid on time every month and invested thousands for years we have to come home stressed and walk on egg shells because some crazy landlord on a power trip who would like nothing more than to evict everyone who was here before her. i know i'm not the only one that feels this way, and if you don't want to find out the hard way that i am right DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!!

I agree. I'm a resident too and I can't stand the new management. It seems that Bryan Kryzak - the owner, is allowing this to continue. Before you know it, Parkwood won't be around much longer. What type of charitable foundation is supporting this? Allowing management to deteriorate like this. I even saw the manager getting on back of the motorcycle of that cop - that uses his power as an officer to scare people. It's funny that he has a pit bull but nobody else is allowed to bring one on property. They are trying to get rid of long term residents and not fix the long term problems. It's sad that in this day and age, coming home is not the same for us as it is for other residents living other places. Can't wait to move and be more comfortable!! When are they gonna fire Luana anyway? She needs to take her sidekick w/her too...who tries to co-sign on everything Luana says. she should feel ashamed and look for something else where she can actually have a say about something. And by the way, if you have a dead tag on your car or a city sticker that's expired, you gotta worry about them towing your car for that too. And that's gone up too!

I also grew up in parkwood...10 years and I agree...I missed my apartment when I moved out..sentimental values but there aren't enough sentimental values in all of alexandria to have kept me there after I graduated hs!!! And after I left so did the rest of my family...we dont even drive down that street anymore lol
