This apartment complex is terrible!!! I am writing this letter because I am extremely concerned about the current management situation at the property. Over the past year there has been a rapid deterioration in how the property is maintained and the customer service of the management. It is the small quality of life issues that are going overlooked that are particularly disconcerting. I visited the front office to inquire about additional parking spaces for guests and the noticed that the office was extremely disorganized. The office clerks were shouting at customers on the phone and the entire staff appeared to be cluttered and haphazard. It took me over an hour to explain to the clerk that I had to report 2 issues- a burnt out bulb in front of my doorway (that after 3 weeks has still not been replaced), and that I wanted a receipt for my rent. I began to inquire about an additional parking space, but he became sidetracked and began having a conversation with another customer. Because of the amount of time involved in this process I had to leave the office without getting the pass. I have never seen a supervisor on duty, or been able to get a hold of one on the phone (they are always ?off today? or ?busy with a customer? or just don't answer). The staff appears to be unable to handle the workload that they are given and are growing extremely abrupt and impatient with other customers. Basic maintenance of the property has fallen by the wayside?the underground parking garage needs to be cleaned up and the general use areas are becoming overused and need to be fixed. The furnace in one hall is falling off the wall, the elevator I use is missing a panel. Last evening some maintenance workers were playing extremely loud music in the hallway. I used the pool one weekday during the summmer and there were people there from the VA department of health inspecting the property. I overheard them explaining to the lifeguard that the chlorine level in the water was too high and the patrons would have to leave the pool. Instead of apologizing for the inconvenience and asking us politely to leave, the lifeguard walked up to the patrons and rudely told us that we had to go, with no explanation of why. The staff has no system in place for reporting maintenance problems or for inquiring about how to fix problems.
I would feel much better about my living situation if there was a supervisor available that I could talk with about some of the smaller issues, or if there was a system to report maintenance problems. I have never complained about these kind of issues, but the living situation is extremely uncomfortable.
