We just moved out after about 7 or 8 years in this building. Overall it is a good place to live. There is nothing in the area that is less expensive and still has all of the amenities. The location is good, very close to metro and National airport. While it is definitely not historic Old Town, the neighborhood has become less sketchy over the past few years as warehouses are being replaced with housing. The underground parking is a nice feature, although they rent spaces to people who work in the neighboring PBS building and those people have access cards to the building even though they do not live there. The apartments themselves are decent-sized, with lots of closet space. However, the appliances and kitchen/bathroom cabinets, floors, and all fixtures are very cheap and crappy. The dryers do not work well. Also if you have a sunroom in "Phase I" it is true that the room is basically unusable because it is too cold in winter and too hot in summer. I think the sunrooms are better designed in "Phase II".
Office staff is OK, but there is a lot of turnover, with the exception of Tyrone Spriggs, the Concierge in Phase II, who has been there for many years. Tyrone is an excellent person who is always going out of his way to take care of the residents. He takes the time to get to know the people who live in the building, and he is a very genuine person. He has a very professional demeanor and is very effective in his job, and he also is very much a "people person" with a great sense of humor.
The maintenance staff is also very hardworking, attentive and courteous. Overall this is not a bad place to live.
