I think most reviewers are a bit snobby

Maybe I view PG differently because I am fully aware of the location and demography before I signed up for lease (I drove around during daytime and nighttime before I applied).
Maybe the fact that I am from San Diego, California helps me being used to be around "illegal immigrants" as many people put it that way-- the fact that my neighbors don't speak English made me feeling at home and more chances to refine my Spanish.
Maybe because I am Deaf, I never hear the whistling and catcalls from the men although I won't stroll for lesiure alone other than zipping to MOM's or CVS pharamcy.

MOM's is the *best* reason why you should live here-- it is an organic market (full name of MOM's= My Organic Market) that offers a lot of items for Vegetarians like me!! Some are pricey but worthwhile due to the fact it only takes me 20steps to get food. There are two Harris Teeters that are less than 2 miles-- one in Pentagon City and another on Jefferson Davis Highway and S. Glebe Road. I prefer those over Giant which is only less than half a mile away.

I think the fact that my husband and I are Deaf, a lot of residents don't mind us. They waved at us, they helped us around, and they offered to help whenever we got something big to be carried in from our car. (PS-- parking is not an issue. I usually park in front of my building so I can see my car from my living room. You get a permit sticker so your car won't be towed *I doubt they enforce the lot ANYWAY*)

I have seen mice but only outside. They look small to me. However my husband exclaimed about *huge* rats at dumpsters. Thank goodness we don't live next to it-- it will be problematic. Roaches are a problem-- and our disappointment with the place. However compared to my last residence in California, the roaches are one-tenth of size-- just clean up after yourself and they won't bother you. I see a tiny roach maybe once every week... and they are usually already dead.

The management staff-- I never had any issues with them. Well maybe one-- they kept coming into our apartment without our permission. To spray for bugs, to repair the telephone line, or whatever reason they came up with. Do use the chain whenever you are home-- one maintenance guy tried to get in while I was changing clothes (with bedroom door open). He didn't realize I was home... hmmm.
I live right next to the leasing office so it is easy for me to just pop by and ask for something. They are always very helpful (even let us use their internet when we had an emergency in our first week and we had no internet service in our apartment yet).

Cops are around, but I think they are racial-profiling. Drugs' Never saw them. But you have to realize that drugs do exist in rich areas like Georgetown, so what is the big deal' I am not bothered by music because again I am Deaf. There are definitely a lot of men loitering around (where the hell are women' Stuck at home, taking care of kids, cooking dinner for them, or what'). You will get stared at, but you will get the same stare from construction guys, young immature guys, and more anywhere in the world. So what' They do stay at a distance.

Oh yeah, spanish adveristments are posted on your door almost everyday. I put up a warning sign (in English and Spanish) and nobody cares. Maybe they only speak French' Hmm....

I think I have covered all departments...
The only reason I will stay here is because it is under 1,000$ for one bedroom and a small (I mean SMALL) den and it is close to a reliable bus transportation that can take you to 23rd Street in Crystal City, Pentagon Mall, Pentagon Station, and Old Town less than 15minutes. And to top it off, to be able to go green and shop at MOM's' I am sold.

The only wishes I have for this apartment are roach-free and hardwood floor. Then I will stay here for the whole five years.

But then I haven't got the utility bill.... I am a bit nervous after reading others' comments....
