I originally wrote a good review about the community, but things have really taken a turn. The first year I spent here was very good and there are still good things about the community, but I no longer recommend it. Here is why:

1-Management hasn't seemed to care a bit about the safety of the community for most of this year. Exterior doors leading out to the parking garage have been broken since late February of this year. (Keep in mind-these are also designated fire safety doors-scary, isn't it)' I've reported this to the office at least four times and was told the doors would be repaired "soon" each time. In April, I sent a letter to management regarding my concerns only to receive a form letter telling all residents to stop tampering with the doors. In June, I was told the door locks were "in the process of being replaced." Well, it's October, and guess what' NO new locks; NO repaired doors. While I understand they can't prevent acts of vandalism, what they COULD do is repair safety mechanisms when they get broken, yet they seem to have no desire to do it. To make a long story short, if you're coming here because you want some sense of safety, you should definitely look elsewhere.

2-The "business center" they advertise is basically non-existent. Both computers rarely work (if at all) and the printer either never works or is always out of paper. This is not a big deal to me personally, but on a day when my printer at home stopped working and I actually needed to use the business center, nothing worked.

3-Parking is the biggest JOKE ever! First, they announced that anyone who parks in the lots outside the garage is allowed to park inside it whenever they want. Next, they decided to do away with guest parking permits inside the garage, so anyone who feels like it can park on the top level of the garage without a permit. So, when you have guests who try to park in the garage, it's hard for them to find available spaces. In the resident section of the garage, people take up two spaces on purpose and park on the sides (which are NOT parking spaces) and block other cars that are parked correctly in the spaces. Management said at the beginning of the year that they would tow cars parked this way but obviously they haven't or else people wouldn't continue to do it.

4-Considering all the facts listed above, the rental rates are CRAZY. The only justification in the price is the community's proximity to the metro station. That's definitely one of the best things about it, but the negative things combine to make it NOT worth the price. There are several other nice places in Alexandria (and even a couple in Arlington) that are much more reasonably priced. My rent from last year to this year increased by nearly $200 (quite steep considering I have great credit and a flawless renter's record). Pet rent is also at least $15 bucks higher than many other places in the area.

These are the reasons why I'm not renewing my lease, but there are a few good things about it. As I mentioned, the proximity to metro is great. The bus service is really no good anymore either but the great thing is it's easy walking distance. There is also a full size washer and dryer which is great to have in the apartment. The unit itself is really good and I've had very few maintenance problems. They also fix things promptly in the apartment when something goes wrong. The leasing consultants and staff are very courteous and usually always helpful and I think they do the best they can with everything. However, the bad definitely outweighs the good and that's why I'm going elsewhere and have trouble recommending it to anyone else. qmzu4EHcaGAPVCPw2Fai
