Honest opinion about the reserve @ eisenhower

I moved in here in 2007. They cut me a decent deal, at first, so I decided to rent here. I was given a discount on my rent that only was honored for the first 3 or 4 months of my year lease. Coincidently that's exactly how long the management team that I signed the lease with was employed at the reserve. They were the first of 3 or 4 teams that Equity has had in the reserve in one year. As soon as the new team came in my rent went up without notice. The "new" employees at the office were less than helpful in resolving this situation. They also will give you a good deal to move in, but come lease renewal time they will actually not even consider letting you have the advertised rate. Nope, they will increase your rent to stay here. A lot of thanks for being a good tenant and paying your overpriced rent every month.
Since I have moved in to the reserve there have been numerous property crimes committed, mostly car break-ins. When they did happen it wasn't isolated to one or two vehicles. No the criminal element that saw the reserve as easy pickings went through every floor in the garage and broke in to vehicles on every floor. The Reserve's response was to put fliers out every time it happened. Do you think they would fence the property in and try to make it secure' Why would they do that' They just printed up a new flier. The rear, sides and heck, the front gate are not secure against criminals just walking on to the property and strolling in to the garage to break some windows and steal some stuff. They also had a rash of criminals walking on to the property and using ladders to climb up to second floor balconies to break in to apartments, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY IN BROAD DAYLIGHT!!!!! Where was the management on that one' Yep, you guessed it. Another flier stuck in the door. Great job there chief! I work in law enforcement, so I can legally be armed, and I do not walk around the property at night without carrying my gun, I don't feel safe.
I even caught a homeless guy sleeping in the stairwell of the garage, called Alexandria PD and he got arrested. The next morning I told the general manager what happened, told him how to get the guy banned from the property and all the contact info for the police that handled the situation. Guess what he did' Nope, not another flier, he did nothing. A few months later guess who I found sleeping in a different stairwell' You guessed it! To their credit The Reserve has hired a "courtesy officer" i.e. a local police officer who lives here for a huge discount and parks his police car on the property.
The apartment itself is nice. The walls are thin but most of my neighbors have been polite and respectful of others. I haven't heard my neighbors through the walls as others have said. I have had the misfortune of having a family with 3 kids move in above me recently and the pounding on my ceiling is nonstop. I have complained to the management with no help there. I have also gone up there and asked them to be quiet only to be told by the guy that I just have to deal with it because it's part of apartment living. This is the same ------- that was too busy talking on his cell phone at the pool that he couldn't even watch his kids as the little one, probably one year old or less fell into the pool and started drowning. Thank God the lifeguard was there or Mr. "Part of apartment living" would be burying his kid.
All in all I would say......save yourself the trouble. Look elsewhere.
