I have been living at the reserve for about 2 years now and even though the area around it is kind of rough I felt fairly safe living on the 4th floor, until recently. My husband took our dog for a walk and about 10-15 minutes later when he got back he saw a man in our doorway so he let the dog go and he chased him. The man got away but luckily didn't get into our apt.. He told the rental office and I don't know if they can do much but they didn't even post memos to let the residents know to be on the lookout for a prowler. The gate is always broken therefore I think the undesirables that live in the neighborhood ajacent to the complex can get in very easily. Just be on the lookout if you live here or decide to move here.

Thanks for the update. I will most certainly get Midway Alarm System now. We were considering it until I read this - now I know we will get it.

thanks for the update. i, too, live on the 4th floor so it's good to be aware of these issues. the gates are certainly a problem. if people who don't have access would stop trying to follow those of us who do, we would have less instances of the gate being broken. [grrrr]

You're right. The management didn't even issue any kind of warning about this issue. That is amazing, and I surely would have thought being on the fourth floor would have been a good deterrent. Guess I was wrong.

Ha, I got robbed back in '03 and the complex did nothing. They also didn't cooperate with the Alexandria PD to help find the crack head who robbed mine and several other apartments. I finally cooperated with the police, and they nabbed the guy. But I moved away. its sad for me to hear that these problems are still not being addressed.

Our place was broken into a couple of weeks ago. I know this an old thread, but I wanted to add my experience to it as well. Nothing was done by the rental office. My neighbor also heard something the night before. These things can happen anywhere really, but this is supposed to be gated and "secure". Another tenant had his van stolen. The cops said they would find it in maryland, and sure enough that's where it was. Apparently they steal suvs and vans here so they can stash the motorcycles in them and then dump off the vans in MD. Another tenant had his bike stolen twice. I just see so many people moving out of here in droves and so many unsuspecting newcomers smiling their way in.
