Don't expect the rental office to treat you like a person. Sign the lease and you get treated like a moron and spoken down to. The maintaince people are VERY nice and helpful. It's creepy at night and the garage has a lot of sketchy people. Cars get stolen a lot. We get notices almost weekly on "how to be safe". It's a gated community but we come home to tons of advertizments on our door. A gang of teens patrol the gazebo area all summer long. People refuse to pick up after their pets despite so many poop stations with bags throughout the complex. The walls are so thin that you can hear someone whispering (think I'm kidding, move here and see for yourself). We can hear toilets flushing, people showering. The trash chutes are outside so in the summer you smell trash in your apartment. The halls are loaded with loogies and urine. Just to get the mail room is a nightmare. You need to go through the garage to get to it and someone keeps peeing in the mailroom! We have a dog and my dog and I have to play hopscotch to avoid the mounds of dog poo in the grass. The apartments look nice, but there are serious structural flaws, such as the walls. In the summer ticks come into the apartment (now I wish we had roaches!) and some weird caterpillar looking bugs that race around when you turn on the light. I wish I had more positive things to say, but after a year here I can't wait to get out. If I have to see one person spitting on the concrete halls I will puke. What else... there is a pet fee and pet rent. For the money we pay someone should clean up out there at least. It's a rat trap, really. My neighbor said she found mouse droppings in her apartment and was told by the rental office that it was her fault. They never did anything, so she hired a company. The company found a whole family of mice living behind of her walls. In the bathtubs, there is mold growing behind the shower wall so that the corner in that area is always blood red and black. Scrub all you want, all the apartments here have it.

That's all I can think of right now. I wouldn't recommend this place to the elderly, young families, or those with mold allergies. Not worth the money.

Not to mention all the spiderwebs in the hallways...

Thanks! It's all gross and true. Now I find that the gate to Reed Ave is ALWAYS open all night long every night. What's the point of that? I am too scared to walk my dog at night now. As for the pool table, you have to pay to use it! to rent the clubhouse is over half of our rent -- for one evening! They are upping our trash removal charge to 9.00 a month. How many units are in this place? does it cost 500 bucks a month to pick up the trash here? Anyway, I could write a lot more but I dont want the rental office finding out who i am because someone else complained and lost their deposit and were required to pay 1200.00 more for repairs that didn't even exist upon move-out.

This person is clearly ridiculous and must have a grudge against the office. I have lived here since November and not one of these things has been an issue for me. Some of the nuttier things I would like to respond to are: 1. Urine: No one is peeing in the hallways and in the mailroom. There are people around all the time, someone would have seen this. And, beside, why would someone do this. There aren't homeless people running around the complex looking for places to pee. If anything you're smelling the piss from people who don't take their pets on a proper walk. The carpet in the mailroom is always wet from the rain, it is outside afterall. Seriously, have you seen someone actually peeing in the hallway or the mailroom. I doubt it. 2. Noise: I wonder if this person has ever lived in an apartment before. Hearing a neighbors water is pretty commonplace. I have heard the neighbors talking but it hasn't been a bother. I don't hear loud music or fighting or anything like that. Really, you can hear you neighbors whispering? Really? I wish I had your hawk ears. I would use them to fight crime. 3. Mold: How in the world do you know that there is mold growing behind the walls of the showers in EVERY apartment? I don't have this problem. Mainly because, I keep my shower clean! You must have xray vision to see behind the walls. Maybe you can use it to see who is peeing in the hallways. 4. Gangs of teens: Major LOLZ. Seriously, scared of teenagers, prowling the gazebo at night? So there is a band of scary teenagers hanging out at the gazebo waiting to terrorize you. Seriously, you sound like you are 90 years old. 5. Sketchy people in the garage: Perhaps this are the same teens that are scaring you at the gazebo? What constitutes sketchy people? The only people I have ever seen in the garage are the complex workers or people who live here. When are these sketchy persons hanging out in the garage when you see them? Could they be the infamous hallway pissers? Yes, cars have gotten stolen but HELLO did you do any research on the area you are moving into? The neighborhood isn't exactly Clarendon yet. You can see that right outside the gates on your first visit to the place. 6. Dog poop: Yes, people are lazy. But there are what seems like MILES of sidewalk for you to walk on while you have to walk your dog so you should easily avoid what is left over by irresponsible pet owners. And have you seen this take place, have you said anything to anyone?? Since you are scared of youths, I doubt you would have the courage. Meanwhile, no one ever said you had to have a dog. 7. Mice: The place is set in the middle of a big field. It gets cold, mice get in sometimes, especially if you leave your door open. I haven't had this problem at all though. I have a cat and again, I keep my apartment clean. However, if I did find one, I wouldn't be that surprised. It is winter, and the front doors do open up to an outdoors hallway. It isn't rocket science. 8. letmeoutofhere44 is scared the office will find out who they are: Because the office staff are super computer hackers who can figure out the identities of people on the Web? No, the problem is that the OP has clearly had a problem with the apartment staff and decided to take it out on them on here because they didn't get their way. From the degree of the comments on here, I can tell what kind of person the OP is and they will have the same problems anywhere they live.

This last post is the funniest and best response I have ever seen. Seriously hilarious and right on. This place isn't the best, but seriously there are a ton worse places to live. Get over it.

I've lived here for 5 months now and I haven't received one notice on "being safe." Also the gates are not open at night all the time, they actually work. I cannot imagine being letmeoutofhere44 and living in constant fear of youths and the people on Reed Avenue.

I've lived here a year and a half. My bathroom has no mold. I've found a few bugs, but given that I leave my balcony door open in warm weather, I'd say that's my fault. Maybe there are more problems in ground floor units? I could see that being a problem. It IS pricey (and the nonrefundable pet deposit PLUS pet rent annoys me) but I knew about all of that BEFORE I moved in. The gates break sometimes, but they most certainly are NOT open all the time.

All I can say is that I can agree to disagree with all of the follow-up posts. I believe that letmeoutofhere44 is right on the money. I have seen the same exact things they have. So, all I can is that not all apartments have the same exact problems. And those of you who have not expreienced some of the negatives of this place, consider yourselves very lucky. Also instead of coming here and slamming others, I suggest that you all write your own positive review about this place. After all the rating has dropped from 41% to 32% in about a year or so, and that is something to really pay attention to.

There is a photo of the building people!!! I just posted one too from today. They covered it with tarp paper to hide the mold and warped wood. Are you going to tell this man/woman and me that our photos aren't a red flag?!
