I have been living at Riverside for 3 months now. I expected it to be way worst when I moved in due to the reviews but I enjoy the apartment and my environment. I live in Building 3 (not renovated) and I love the amount of space I have. When I first moved in there were a few problems, such as: cabinets not closing, broken kitchen light cover, and clogged incinerator. I was very disappointed and I let maintenance know immediately. I was very impressed with how quickly and efficiently they took care of the problems and I haven't had any problems ever since.
The distance of Riverside from the Huntington metro is not far at all driving (about 2 minutes), but, it can be a 15-20 minute walk. The shuttle drivers are okay, but not as prompt as I would like them to be. However, it is a convenient service and it beats paying for metro parking everyday. There is one driver lady who can be rude at times, but I don't pay her any attention.
The residents range from early 20's to senior citizens. They seem to be responsible people and I have not had any issues with anyone. Management prohibits dogs in the apartments, however, I have seen 2 residents that own dogs.
The rent is pretty expensive but I think it is a result of the apartment sizes and locale. I pay a base amount of $1180 for a one bedroom not including utilities. The way that utilities are determined is obnoxious apts. Basically, the electrical usage of all the apts are combined and then divided by the number of apts. I am out of town a lot, and I usually pay between $40 to $70 in utilities.
I have never seen any roaches or mice in my apt. The hallways in building 3 are sort of gloomy and sometimes smelly. But, I don't live in the hallways so it doesn't bother me too much.
The property is kept up very well. I agree with other post that it is not the most attractive apt. complex from the outside and the surrounding neighborhood doesn't look the best. There are not many places in walking distance, but, if you have a car everywhere is easily accessible. It doesn't take very long to get to Old Town (5-10 minutes). Most restaurants, shopping places, etc. are about a 10 minute drive away.
The gym in the community center is about $35 a month. I chose not to pay to use the gym because I can get gym membership at the sports club for cheaper with more services. Plus, building 3 has a gym in the basement (which can be stuffy at times and the equipment is old).
Management puts together events weekly and monthly for the residents. This is a nice feature and it adds a community feel to the apartments. Overall, I think that Riverside is a good apartment complex. It has its positives and negatives but definitely not a bad place to live, plus I feel safe here.

You must be part of the management. There is no way the utilities for a one bedroom appartment to be from $4O.OO to $7O.OO. That might be the truth in 1993, but now way now.

They used to allow dogs. They stopped, but anyone living there with dog already is grandfathered in.
