Maintenance is a HUGE problem!

I would not recommend living at Rose Hill if you can help it. It is not worth the amount of rent you are paying. I have never had so many maintenance issues with an apartment complex in my life. When I first moved in my toilet continually ran. And mind you - besides being super annoying hearing it run every 5 minutes - I was paying for water! First I tried to fix it myself by getting a new flapper for the toilet, but that didn't fix the problem so I called maintenance and told them specifically that it wasn't the flapper. So what do they do' They came and put a new flapper on! So I went down to the office to talk to maintenance, and we had words. They are very rude people that will not admit when they are wrong or don't know what they are doing. In the long run they had to give me a whole new toilet! What a pain.
In addition to the new toilet, my garbage disposal exploded one night and flooded my kitchen w/ old nasty spaghetti that I tried to dispose of. Another night, my dishwaher exploded - and when I say these things exploded, I mean I had a good 3-6 inches of water in my kitchen! Then on the coldest night of the winter, my heat won't work. It just stops working. So maintenance comes out and stays from 10pm - midnight - and it's not like I had to get up at 5am for work the next day. They couldn't figure out for the life of them what was wrong. They even had to call in back up! And when they finally got it working and they left, the heat would not shut off! It just kept getting hotter and hotter and when I woke up the next morning it was 90 degrees in my apartment and I had to open my windows in december! Unbelievable. And now my issue is after them fixing that, my heat works fine, but when you put it on "auto", the fan for the heater never shuts off once it reaches it's desired temperature. So I have to either have the heater on all day or manually shut it off and have my apt cold. I decided to leave it on last month, because I didn't want to freeze, and my electric bill was $120! So I called maintenace and told them my issue, but I highly doubt that they will show up.
The only time maintenance will show up is if you call the after hours hotline and it's considered an emergency. That's the only time they will respond. Otherwise you have no idea when they are going to come, if at all. And the worst part for me is that I have a cat, so when I call maintenance I keep him locked up in the bedroom so he won't run out when they enter my apt - it's just sad having to keep him locked up if they are never going to show up.
And the rent is unbelievable. Right now I'm paying $875 (which is fine). I got a special when I moved in. But when my lease is up in April it jumps up to $1150!!! How insane is that' I could barely qualify for $875 (even though I have a steady job) and now its going to $1150. I'm definitely moving out and I do NOT recommend this place!
