Why SouthPort is a bad choice:
1. Noise - My upstairs neighbors have incredibly creaky floors. I can hear every step they take - not because they stomp- it is because of the floor boards. The property manager had it inspected and said it was "normal wear and tear for a building of this age." I invited her to visit any time between 4 and 5 am to hear what it is like when my neighbor gets out of bed in the morning right above my head. I have heard from other people in the complex that this is a common problem.

2. Property Management - Manager is not responsive. You must hound her, in writing to get anything done. The ladies who handled the rental process, however, were friendly and helpful and even gave me strategies to deal with the property manager.

3. Bugs - When I moved in, I found roaches. I was told it was sprayed before I moved in. I don't believe it. My place has been sprayed for bugs 3 times in 2 months. (all bugs seemed to be gone after first spraying, others were to ensure eradication)

4. Lack of visitor parking. Each place can have two parking stickers and one hanging visitor's tag. There is no way to get temporary passes for additional guests

(I should have trusted the ratings on this site before I moved in!)

Edit - 12/2007 - I saw a rat in front of my apartment. I found a dead one in the same location about a month ago. I can't wait to get out of this sh*thole.

Edit - 3/2008 - My neighbor allows her dog to piss in the shared hallway.
