I have had 4 rent increases in 2 1/2 years. Parking is bad. In the Sherwood Bldg, they play musac over the PA system 24 hours a day. The apartments are starting to fall apart. They are constantly having water outages because the pipes are old and break all the time. LOUD, prolonged fire alarm testing every few weeks. Immigrants (legal and illegal) have pretty much taken over. It's no longer called Southern Towers, but Somali Towers. You have 2 or 3 families living in one apartment. I half expect to see chickens running around in the hall when I get off the elevators (when they're running). The stench from their cooking is overpowering. I was nearly run over by a kid riding his bike down the hallway. There are a lot of kids (thugs and punks) loitering around the 7-11 and you have to run a gauntlet to get through to it. They spent a small fortune to upgrade the lobby in the Sherwood; meanwhile the tile in my kitchen keeps peeling and no one will replace it. The ONLY thing going for it is location: right off of 395 - straight shot to D.C. (when the traffic isn't stopping you).

Somali Towers! That is funny as $h!t. So true. I have lived here 2 1/2 years as well. The buidings suck. Roaches are endless. Some of the staff are really bad and some do try to help you when you need it. Overall this place really does suck. Etheopians have pretty much have taken over. They get in the way. They have no sense of their surroundings and are pretty inconsiderate. Anyways, I believe I should be getting paid rent to live here. It is criminal to pay for such an unsanitary apartment.

1) you've lived there for 2 1/2 years and you hate it... so move! 2) EthIopian, if your going to insult an entire race of people (you ignorant S.O.B.) you might want to spell it correctly. 3) Speaking of... cbonner you dumb ----, dont for one second think that the actions of other tennants (immigrant or non-immigrant) do not have an effect on the bug problem in the whole building as well as other peoples' apartments. Little common courtesy would go a long way.

I found this review pretty horrible. Never should you insult an entire race! I am not Ethiopian yet I was extremely upset by this review. I was considering moving here but I REFUSE to now, after learning that I may have neighbors like you, racists! Ignorance is so ugly. When will it end in this world?

i feel you them people get on my last nerve they are rude and inconsiderate and they treat black like outcasts and this coming from a black man they act like you should open the doors for them and will try to walk threw you if you in their way and management is even worse i mean how many people get asked do they live in the building if they are seen every day i made a big mistake moving here the smells is the worst

Wow. Apparently we should all live in locations with only "our own kind." This is racist bigotry at it's finest. Also they did not raise your rent 4 times in 2.5 years. Stop exaggerating. They raise your rent when your lease is up and then by the year, like all other apartments do.

This place will never improve until they stop taking in so many illegals. Gangs of them are renting these apts. and they are being hired to do the cleaning and to work behind the front desk as well. Many Americans are now out of work and need to have these jobs but they are denied them because they would rather hire cheap illegals. Mgmt. here should be held accountable for hiring them and fined heavily and the illegals should be deported now.

Hi just thought you might like to know that my husband works at the front desk and he's not a gang member or illegal. He is a seventy yr. old retiree trying to make ends meet. He tries hard to do a great job, and is liked by most. He doesn't make the rules and if you've got the time you might not like walking a mile in his shoes. He has to handle people with every problem you can think of. Parking, rent checks, repairs, answering phones and complaints about the washers and dyers,floods, fire, mail it is endless. My husband is not a illegal. He was born here, and he actually helped build Southern Towers in the 60's!
