Wow, I'm really surprised after reading the negative postings listed here. I have lived in the Sussex Commons for about 6 months now and haven't expereinced anything people have complained about. I'm not sure if I just have great neighbors (all military or federal employees) or if my building is better maintained than others. My unit is right next to the trash compactor and even on the really hot days you can't smell anything. The animals in the complex are well behaived, parking is easy to find at all hours, and the office staff and maintenance folks are super friendly. The few times I had a problem with the dryer not working correctly it was fixed within 24 hours. I work early morning hours (6am) and therefore go to bed really early and despite being a really light sleeper, I have not had a single problem with loud neighbors (unlike other area places I have lived in before). Maybe I am just very lucky, but I am quite happy here. Yes, Sussex might be a little pricey (the whole Kingstowne area is) but you get what you pay for!
