Customer service does not exist at Archstone. The best example is when the water pipes burst. I could write a book on the many poorly executed repairs or the filth that I was forced to clean up (including all the paint buckets, brushes, drop clothes and Burger King cups that were used!), but the one issue that still leaves me reeling is when I complained about the carpet. The water damage left it wrinkled and matted; I reported this to management after they "fixed" everything. 3 weeks later -- without any communication to me -- management let a group of carpet-layers into my apartment and recarpeted the whole thing. Not a problem unless your dog and your cat are trapped in the apartment - like they weren't still traumatized by the pipe bursting! Or you had a chance to move items you didn't want broken -- who needs lamps anyway! To add insult to injury, management did not monitor the people who put the carpet in, otherwise they might have stopped them from stripping the beds and remaking them with fresh sheets that they got from the linen closet. 9 months later, and I'm still creeped out by what they did!
It's a beautiful community, the neighbors are nice, but you can't live in an apartment without maintenance and management oversight.
