Ehhh!

I'm stuck in the middle with Encore. In the couple of months that I've been here, I've really been trying to enjoy it but everytime I begin to have positive thoughts about this place, someone in the leasing office shatters all hope.
Good- I live in a part of the complex where parking is totally not an issue. So I can't relate to the horror stories of not having a parking space in sight. The people in my building are also pretty courteous and keep the noise down. I've probably only heard my neighbors a few times, but then again my building isn't fully occupied. I can definitely see where noise could be an issue because the walls are so thin. Everything is kept clean and I like the idea of having secured buildings. And the location can't be beat! So close to DC and they even have a complimentary shuttle!
Bad- I'm a pretty patient person and I honestly hate to complain as I've worked in customer service myself so with that said it's understandable that the office is busy and probably understaffed. However, it's uncalled for for me to be told repeatedly to 'call back if you don't hear anything from me' whenever I call to have something done. This to me translates and has come to mean 'I'm not going to do it so call back and maybe you'll get someone who will.' It's also frustrating to have one person tell you one thing and another to tell you something completely different, which happens quite often. I don't think anyone in the office really has a general grasp of everything they need to know to run the office. It took nearly a month for me to get my mailbox keys. One would think you'd get these with your regular keys. Nope!
I also really did't appreciate moving in only to find out 1)that the swimming pool would be closed all summer (and there would be no compensation, 2)that the call boxes don't work (first i was asked my number for them to set it up but when they found out i had a long distance # they told me i couldn't do it. i got my number changed and when i called back another person told me they didn't work at all. When i asked when they would work I got an 'idk' so when i asked maybe if it'd be a month, a year, a few weeks i still got the same idk answer), 3) The buildings are poorly constructed. I can hear a dripping noise everytime I turn on my bathroom sink water and I've had to replace several light bulbs in the few months that I've been there. The floors squeak to no end so I'm afraid to walk around too much so that I don't annoy my neighbors.
Again, I'm stuck in the middle with Encore. So long as you don't need anything from the leasing office and you happen to land a place on the 'good side' of the complex with plentiful parking and nice neighbors, then I think you'll be fine. Would I recommend this place' Sure, to someone who doesn't care about the luxuries of an apartment or to someone just looking for a nice looking place to crash. (How ironic that these are considered luxury apartments...)
