The Exchange---Don't Buy W/O Being REALLY Careful From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 4/4/2006 Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006   First, I should warn you to be careful with the sales office and the "preferred" lenders that they're dealing with. In particular, both me and another buyer in the condo complex were both given 'good faith estimates' by two different preferred lenders that were WAY off...to the point that I had a hard time qualifying for the new loan amount(which I conveniently didn't find out until after my 10-day withdrawal period had passed). When I asked the preferred lender that I was using about this, he remarked that it was only an estimate....that ended up being several thousands of dollars off of the sales price which changed my monthly mortgage by a lot! So, in order to qualify for my NEW loan amount, they had me pay down some of my debt b/c the lender was unwilling to issue a letter declining my loan (which is the only way you're allowed to get out of the contract once the 10 days have passed). Second problem: Anyway, I finally closed on my condo unit a month ago (March 2006) and the day after I moved in, I began hearing extremely loud noises EVERY single morning (and occassionally throughout the day and evening) that woke me and my neighbors up. I called the maintenance company to complain and they got on it fairly quickly but gave up after deciding it was too difficult for them to handle and that it was a construction problem. Then, I started calling the construction company....finally, a week later I spoke to a construction manager who has promised to handle my situation but he warned that the maintenance company rather than the construction co. might be responsible for the issue. The saga continues.... So, be careful with your dealings with this company!!
