I first moved to Fairmont Gardens from out of state I didnt know the area. They seemed to be very centrally located which was a convinience. Then after the first month I realized I was living in the hood. The people upstairs were Incredibly loud and making so much noise that on one occasion the lightfixture on the ceiling actually came crashing down on my bed!!! Management would not do anything about this so I had to take matters in to my own hands. Also there are many men sitting in the stariwells drinking and pissing everywhere. I couldn't even do my laundry because i would get harrased by them and sometimes they would steal my underwear from the machines...sickos. when i aksed the managment why they didnt do anything about this problem they said it was because people didnt report them and since they didnt report they could not take action. So everyweek I would report them and also tale pictures of them. After about a month of doing this my building was and still is one of the cleanest safest buildings in Fairmont. Also the wahing and dryer machines are often breaking management WILL not do anything, but what you have to do is call the number on the machines themselves which brings out a diff. co. to fix them!!! They just bill Fairmont Gardens later. Parking is bad late at night so you have to park all the way in the back or you can parallel park on the middle island. The rooms are very spacious. The bathroom is okay. nice closets, I have a new kitchen. There was a big gang problem when I moved in here but not anymore actually there were fights that would take place outside my building but not anymore. I have not had problems with roaches I see some in my apt. once in a while but every thursday is extermination day which seems to do a great job. You just got to be smart living around here. Know how to deal with people. And realize the for an apartment this size and for the rent you are paying which is the cheapest rent you will find in this area. Living conditions are not that bad. You cant expect this place to be one that is all peachy keen for this price if you are expecting all that this is not the place for you obviously it is for a reason. The community is not that big so after awhile you get to know the people around you. At first when I moved here the racial make up was of a majority of --------- but now because the rent in surrounding apts. in the area have gone up and here it has not we have alot of Koreans moving in, as well as Russians. I would recommend these apt. for people who are on a budget obviously, that know how to take care of themselves. If you are looking to not be bothered at all by the noise or occasional person smoking you need to buy a house. We are two single females living in our apt. and we have managed fine!!!
We will move soon though because they only give you one parking permit per room.
