This is just a small list of some of the problems at this building from 2002 to 2007:

1. Building is old and not well maintained. They evidently only fix something when it breaks and do not have an ongoing deferred maintenance plan. Repairs are patchwork and don't address underlying maintenance issues.

2. Elevators were unsafe and frequently broken for many years. Elevators were repaired after a thorough fire inspection was conducted by Fairfax County. The elevators themselves were not replaced and still breakdown on occasion.

3. Water system is old and frequently breaks down. Water shut-offs for repairs are common. There was a long period where hot water was frequently not available for days at a time.

4. Air conditioning/heating units are about 35 years old and very inefficient.

5. Appliances are old and inefficient.

6. The company leases to some people who pay up-front and don't have credit checks done -- most of these people are involved in criminal activity of one kind or another -- including housing young women from other countries who are clearly the subject of human-trafficking.

I totally agree with this review. The management at Ravensworth do not know how to deal with the tenants. I am glad that I left when I did. And they sent me a bill for $186.00 saying I hadn't paid my utility bills the first month that I had move in. I checked my records and I found I had paid $46 for first month's utility. The new manager called me and left a message on my voice mail saying she would report me to the collection department if I didn't pay the money. After a nasty discussion, she called back to say they had made a mistake. Also, make sure that you don't spill any bleach on the carpet. There were two tiny spots of bleach on the carpet and they made me pay for half of the whole apartment's carpet (this way they wouldn't have to give back the deposit). They didn't take into consideration the fact that the carpet was probably more than 5 years old.
