In the two years I have lived here the rent has skyrocketed. It was bad enough to begin with. Now it's worse. And not only has the rent gotten worse, but they've taken away amenities. I am month-to-month right now because I am leaving this dump soon. My rent is now $1,600/month. What does that get me' How about no air conditioning. They have a new policy that when the temperature outside is around 70 degrees they shut the a/c off. Well, the last three days it's been between 80 and 85. So they decided it was cool enough to shut the a/c off. So inside my apartment, which has never had ANY airflow of any kind, it's a comfortable (not) 80 degrees. That's when I haven't showered or run the dryer or turned on any lights. And guess what' It's going to be above 80 for at least another week or two. I asked them if that meant that essentially the a/c is gone for the summer, and they said, "basically, yes." Nice. That's what I get for paying what most people spend on a mortgage for a house. And this isn't the first time this has happened. I figure we've only had a/c for about 1/2 of this summer (2005). And we all know how hot it has been. Our air conditioner broke at one point when it was 90 degrees outside with 100% humidity and it took them 4 days to fix it. Also, there are more bugs inside the apartment than there are outside, despite the constant spraying they do. And someone already mentioned the crime in the area. And we've had our car towed from our own parking lot. And most of the bulbs in the closets and laundry area have burnt out due to screwed up electrical wiring so that when you replace a bulb it just burns out again. They haven't fixed it. Oh, I also forgot to mention they've just decided to start charging for utilities that used to be included (well, included in the huge rent). Someone else here said that this place is like polishing a turd. I couldn't have said it better. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I made the mistake of choosing another Archstone community after having a bad experience at my first one. My mistake. Look somewhere else. Archstone is an enormous company and only cares about the bottom line.

Just wait until after you move out and they send you the bill full of creative charges.

Great...we took ours before it was renovated to begin with....I'm tempted to not even give a forwarding address and risk them reporting me.
