I've had a recurring cockroach infestation ever since I moved in. They took care of it pretty fast, sprayed the place, my move in satsifaction guarantee expired, and 8 months later, there's still a roach problem. I wanted to be moved to a different apartment, but then I'd have to pay the new, higher rent AND extend my lease. I'm sick of getting my place sprayed or bombed at least once a month, the office doesn't seem to care, and I can't afford the lease termination fee. I would NEVER live here again, or at any place managed by Archstone.

As an addendum to this post: after 10 months and finding the one competent person in the office (Megan), the roaches have finally gone. The nest was in the apartment next to us, which the office wouldn't treat unless the people next door requested it. They were filthy and had roaches climbing all over their door at night, but the staff just apologized and shrugged their shoulders. The neighbors eventually got evicted for failure to pay rent, the manager (who has now left the property) lied to my face that he didn't know anything about the roach problem even though he had personally given us bombs to treat the apartment ourselves, and then set up a "buidling inspection" to see where the roaches were coming from. We got a note that an inspection had been done, but weeks passed and nothing came of it. We went back to the office basically to throw a fit, but the manager was already gone for the day. Megan talked to us, and the next day she had confirmed the problem, bombed next door, lined our place with boric acid, even in the walls and behind appliances. The roaches are gone, but the staff as a whole has left a bad impression on me. Also, the rent is going up $320/mo, which is a pretty hefty increase. Also, the utility bill is way higher than the amount we use, and after receiving my paperwork for leaving, it looks like they're probably going to hit me with some ridiculous fees for so-called "damage". I'm sorry, but a few spots on the faucet won't matter when they rip out the kitchen to do renovations. |

I have lived here 5 years plus. I had the same roach problem for more than 2 years. After bombing, spraying etc, and making excuses that the roaches came from filthy neighbours upstairs,we gave up on management and i remembered a traditional cure for the roaches - - anyone who wants to get rid of this please go buy some boric powder form Home depot or any hardware store. It is cheap (under $5 for bottle which is enough for 3 sprayings in rooms) over three months. Sprinkle behind appliances, over cab tops, under sink. Once roaches crawl over the powder they take it back to their "nests" and the eggs, which are laid 1000 in a go by a female roach die and do not become baby roaches. I have been roach free for three months or so now! I live at 4608 John Hancock Court.
